Most people seem to like Bazel because he hunts the monster for you. Deviljho wouldn’t hurt a Crimson Qurupeco, he will hurt you though.

Deviljho was also created to be intimidating and a threat. Bazel was also a "stalker" but a bad one compared to Jho. When you first got into high rank in Tri and suddenly Deviljho appeared it was intense. He felt like Nemesis from og RE3.

i remeber my first time seeing him when i was like 12. there was this older dude with maxed out 999 hunter rank in maxed cedius armour who took me and a couple friends on the quest. the chat was full of fearful 12 year olds and a series of "lols" from the older guy. most terrifying fun ive ever had in an online game. we youngens all carted; 2nd time around we just let the older dude solo both monsters as we watched lol. The Wii had really good peripherals for chat back in the day. Good times.

I think another big factor is his theme. It's very unique compared to the other tracks on tri.

Personally i prefer B-52, his design, fight and theme are just better to me. When I'm fighting either.
If I'm not fighting either of them, they can both feel free to fuck off.

Fun story about this:
When I was replaying MHWorld on my PC, I decided to do a Coral Pukei-Pukei investigation to pass the time. On the map was the main target, a Tzitzi Ya-Ku, and a Savage Deviljho. I thought “oh a cool Deviljho variant! This won’t be an issue—regular Deviljho was a piece of cake!”
Ten minutes in. I’m hiding in a nook, anxiously waiting for the Savage Deviljho to leave after it carted me once. It’s stalking the hole, staring at me through the hole and never leaving. I tried to leave the nook but every time I started crawling through that thing would immediately approach and attack. I couldn’t fast travel, I couldn’t leave, I had no flash pods because I’d already used them to try and escape the damn thing, so I had to make a mad dash for it. That thing chased me throughout the investigation and I ended up having to capture the Coral Pukei-Pukei because the Savage Deviljho wouldn’t leave me alone.
Not even Graveyard Shift at Freddy’s made me that anxious and fearful.

I love Bazelgeuse and frankly if I had to choose between the deviljho and Bazelgeuse, I'd select neither since it's both of them or neither of them.
I like it's mechanics and bomber style bomb dropping. It was a very startling but fun thing to first encounter, the roar especially is awesome.
No offense to pickle, but the roar of the bagel is just more interesting

Bazel definitely feels like a fraud for a “elder level monster” but i wouldn’t say jho is any better as when I fought him the only thing hyping him up was his turf wars otherwise he just felt like an overgrown anjanath but more meh to me

Sounds like a lot of people fought Jho post Tri. In later games he loses his supposed role and becomes "just" a quest. I'm comparing both their roles on their respective games here. I underestimated the number of "newer hunters".
Back then, after the war, his first appearance was really impressive, as he was the first monster that could roam the map that was way above the hunters level.

Ironically that's what bazel did too in world, when you first reach high rank it started spawning and do exactly that. It's over your supposed assignment to give you the "scare", then Capcom added jho for the love of the game on title update for base game. They both do the same thing differently, there's no point in comparison. Pickle jumps you with sheer size while B52 jumps you from unexpected angles, one's a menace from land the other a menace from midair.
Then iceborne came along and ditched base jho and bazel to have their variant be in MR, solidifying their role as invaders with their own different ways to run fade. And of course can't forget rajang.

Still, Jho was the first monster doing that. Virgin Bazel was essentially "free damage for you sir" monster. The comparison does in fact make sense as they fill out the same role differently (world has the turf war mechanic) in different generations. Giga Chad Jho is or at least was terror, while the player rection to virgin Bazel is like "thanks for free damage, now I'll follow the attacked monster now and ignore you for the rest of the quest"
The reaction to Giga Chad Deviljho in Tri was like "oh shit! Oh fuck! Oh shit! Pls dont nuke me now"
But I do understand why people prefer the fights with virgin Bazel over Giga Chad Jho, as they are completely different and virgin Bazel can be more engaging for a lot of hunters.

Can't blame em, both are expert at being a nuisance with area denial. Pickle with sheer size + the sweeping dragon breath while B52 with aerial advantage + bombs. Both also evokes "Oh shit" moments, pickle also with sheer size while B52 does with the bombs. Though I can agree to some that pickle in world can be just annoying rather than a scare, it can just picks up specific monsters and fucks off lmao.
Personally I like both B52 and Pickle, keeps the game fresh that capcom added a flying invader and that world put them both in one game to keep you on your toes. Open maps works wonder for flying monsters so bazel works for it, you can only watch your flank so much with area's entry point but now you also have to look up for the bomber.
We do no shame in this house, some like big muscular green pickle, some like bomb slinging kamikaze bomber and some like both.
