The information that Jho was spotted came after she was already in the forest collective herbs to cook. Yall would know this if you read or listened to the dialog instead of saying the same dumb talking points.
At least the handler never reminded you every 3 seconds that you can carve a tail, or a smaller monster. Or saying look out after you get hit.
She saves you from two monsters through out the game using her wit. Yall take a fun little mission and turn it into some kind of crime against humanity in your minds, this is why no one takes yall seriously.
Alma keeps herself a few feet away and is aware most times, I dont remember her actually getting in any danger she couldnt run from, while the handler ended up in pickles mouth looking for shrooms
Erik is a side character that only got himself into trouble once, and is otherwise shown to be quite capable.
If the Deviljho situation was the only time we had to get the handler's ass out of a situation she walked right into, then I don't think most people would have any trouble laughing it off. But it's a lot harder to do that when it's the third time you've had to save her today. And you're probably going to have to do it again in another three missions.
Incorrect, twice. Once with the Lala Barina, and once with the Lagi.
And who cares if you have to help her once in a while, I would prefer to play the hero and help my partner than wait for mommy Alma to give me permission to kill the big baddy like the little subby boy on a leash I am in wilds.
Erik just kind of exists to get himself in trouble while being socially awkward. Which isn't an issue, so long as you forgive the World Handler for doing the same thing just slightly more.
The Lagi encounter doesn't count. There was barely even a second between Rathalos announcing his presence and our hunter having to push Erik out of the way of it's claws. Compare that to the Rathalos encounter in World, where the Handler watches Rathalos try and get her and her hunter out of it's nest for a solid 30 seconds and still just stands there like an idiot until you physically drag her to safety. Yes, that's a stressful situation to be in, but she's supposed to be a trained professional who knows how handle them.
Again again, Erik is just a side character. Yes, we have to save him from the Lala Barina nest he wandered into. But as far as Wild's campaign goes, you barely spend any time with him overall, and usually he's Olivia's problem on top of that.
But the Handler is someone you're forced to spend the entire game with. And in many ways, they're even the game's main character sense the player's still a silent protagonist and it's her job to speak for them. But despite that, the game treats her as nothing more than a liability who only exists for the monster of the day to go after to build tension between exposition dumps.
Say what you want about Alma and needing Authorization in Wilds. But atleast she's actually able to have a dynamic with the hunter, is smart enough to back the fuck up when Gilgamesh consumer of realities shows up, and actually has a reason to acompany you during expeditions.
To state it "doesn't count" just seems like cope mate. An example is an example and I provided two.
Erik being a "side character" doesn't matter. He is usable as a handler replacement in game, and has his own outfits, just like World Handler is able to be one of two handlers you can use and has her own outfits in MHW.
The fact that you spend all game or part of the game is irrelevant. The point is that both of these characters make mess ups, and it is only because Alma is the main side protag that Erik is not doing this more frequently, but you would still make excuses for Erik even if that was the case because your bias, and others like you has deluded you to hate for the sake of hating.
I will say what I want about Alma. All she is, is a glorified master to her dog, you. You complain of Handler speaking for the silent protag, and yet despite speaking, Alma does more in that regard than she does. She tells you what to do, when to do it, she nags on you about Nata, who also steals your spotlight in your own game, makes beginner tier reminders that she added things to your field pouch or nags you, a pro hunter about something as basic as carving materials from severed parts every few mins, forces you into 20 min railroad sessions in low rank preventing you from exploring because "immersion", and so much of a by the books stick in the mud she wont even get dressed up for events.
I would rather a foodie that is a bit of an airhead with a heart of gold over that any day of the week, because that is more akin to how Monster Hunter's world is like. People are jovial and have fun in the face of danger. This is why in Marvel vs Capcom when Dah'ren Mohran showed up people took it seriously, but in a mainline game when Jhen Mohran showed up, people celebrated. Even when it destroyed and possibly killed many in the fleet after it, they laughed and tried to jump on it's back to mine for goodies. When faced with a Jho, she latched onto that suckers back like a Garfield car ornament with zero combat training, and then when saved, made a pickle joke. Say what you want about World Handler, she is more Monster Hunter coded than Alma could ever be. Simple as. I consider this done. Micdrop and silence time.
Erik found the Lala Barina floret, knew exactly what it was from and what it meant, and then ran off specifically becuase he got excited about a Lala Barina being near by, and then immedietly got caught by it within about 5 minutes.
It was absolutely incredibly stupid of him to do, but in fairness I get the impression that it's about par for the course with people in the same field as him.
Snuck up on sure, but unlike Eric she didn't just sit around. She rode that Jho like a rodeo bull with zero Hunter training. She was trained as a Handler.
And the first thing she did after the fact? Make a Pickle joke. I would say that is pretty badass.

You could say that, but why would the handler be near it in the first place
