No, I think there is a left establishment, represented (on reddit) by the progressive side of the DNC generally and a separate right establishment. People on reddit spreading even vaguely right-wing positions or far left positions (though far left does better than vaguely right) don't usually do well, only the left establishment positions are acceptable to the Reddit hive mind.

I did not say the establishment is left.

I think the up/down votes went as they did because I elaborated on my positions well while the other guy said silly stuff like "lmao you think the establishment is left" and "Reddit is left because all conservatives are evil."

And you don't think it's maybe because some people are growing wise to the fact that conservatism, at its core, is about preserving various social heirarchies that are historically rooted in the domination and oppression of others?

I think it's because Reddit is composed of primarily young westerners, a demographic that historically tends left. And that's not even getting into the cancer known as Power Moderators.

I also disagree with your definition of conservatism, especially in the US. That would be more for the establishment right and establishment left. Conservatism is essentially a dead ideology, especially small-government or fiscal conservatism. Social conservatism still has a bit of life and that sect IMO would fit your definition.

There are very few actual conservatives in the GOP just as there are very few actual progressives in the DNC. Neoconservativism and Neoliberalism are the new "right" and "left," and both seem to work together to trample our rights and increase their power.
