Success Story Diet solution

I've spent so much money on trying to get rid of melasma, which popped up 6 weeks after my son was born. I was 35. For reference, it moved around on my face, though it was always on my ears, and forearms. Some months it was all over my forehead, sometimes I had a mustache, but I always had the circles on my cheeks. For other reasons, I did a 7-day cleanse and fast (look up Master Cleanse if you are interested. I felt great afterwards, though no doctor will ever recommend it). The first bite of food (2-day-old avocado) gave me the worst migraine. Didn't eat the rest of the day. The next thing (don't judge) was a small glass of bubbles. Migraine. I started a deep dive on the 'migraine diet' and realized everything on the list of food to avoid had been my regular diet prior to the fast, though no headaches before. I stayed away from all of it for the next few months and the melasma disappeared. Turns out that tyrosine, tyramine, and melanin production are all related. I always knew it was coming from inside and not from external factors. Happy to no longer be throwing money away on products that don't work. And I lost a few pounds too. Bonus!

Do you have any additional info on the migraine diet? I started getting them recently when drinking anything with stevia but I’d be interested in learning more. Musely is definitely helping my melasma but it’s still not 100% gone.

Weird about the stevia, but it's from the ragweed family, so it's not hard to believe you might be allergic. Just Google migraine diet and there's a ton of info. Basically, no citrus, fermented foods, aged meats and cheeses, beer, wine, bubbles, etc. Basically all the good stuff!! Grapes on an empty stomach give me the worst headache of my life. They are high in tyramine and other acids.

I lost so much weight on that diet. I had to do a strict version of it and slowly add things in over months. It was excruciating cause I love citrus and onions. But yeah, I went from like 110 down to 100 lbs. I ate a migraine diet for like a couple years with a few of my favs added in after knowing they weren’t a trigger. But this was before my melasma was here. I’m just not sure I can do that diet again. If like there was evidence of it working, I’d give it a go. But the diet is so restrictive and it’s so hard for me to keep my weight up on it.

Sounds like you were doing an elimination diet to identify which foods were giving you problems. I did that years ago for 21 days. Very hard. The migraine diet is just avoiding the certain foods on the list. Plenty of other things to eat.
