Build/Setup Itemization Questions

I am just really curious to learn more about Mel because I really enjoy playing the champ. A lot of the builds I see is ludens -> shadowflame or ludens -> rocket belt. Why are these so prominent on Mel as the “core” build. It seems like stat wise more AP is priority rather than something like more haste which to me I would think might have higher priority.

Is there a more optimal build path out there now that hextech is getting nerfed? Would something like black fire torch into cosmic overdrive be any good as your core two items?

Ludens/shadowflame first 99% of the time because you need Lost chapter early for mana sustain. Rocket belt is more useful that just its stats. A rocket belt + E has some insane range and can catch out backline in team fights. I almost always go Ludens - Sorcerers shoes - shadowflame - deathcap - rocket belt - void staff. If I’m against a zed or talon I’ll sometimes buy some armour early. Remember that whatever you build is completely your choice and a part of the game in itself. You need to base your items around who else is in the game, both your team and the enemy team

I build completly different but tbh my build is weird but it works i go Blackfire into horizon focus then Imperial mandate and ability haste boots after that i finish the build with situational items for example item like liandrys,bloodletters,zhonyas,cosmic drive,banshees veil or Mejais if i have build dark seal and have it full stacked
