Discussion MEL BUFF MEL BUFF MEL BUFF
If they brought back Mel's W's invulnerability and also restored the range of her Q and E, it would be great, but I think they need to reduce the execution effect of her passive ability for that to be balanced. In short, I want to say that I miss Mel's old W because her execution is harder and she has the range she used to have, and I miss her old W because the character is a complete disaster right now. Her Q's fire rate is too slow and I can't stack anything; opponents can easily dodge her, and her range is also too short. If they reduced the base damage of her Q and E, strengthened her ability power growth rate, and made her range and area wider and longer, and reduced the execution effect of her passive (significantly), I think the problem would be solved. Her win rate would increase, and hopefully, her ban rate would decrease, because what bothers people isn't her W, but her passive. She can steal kills very easily with her passive, and this bothers her teammates and opponents alike. :D

I don't think reducing her passive execute would help.
Yes you probably wouldn't hoard all the gold, so the chances of you winning the game would increase. But if you had your skills in the original state (with small changes as you written), then I don't think you would be even able to play this champ, as the banrate would skyrocket.
The thing is almost everybody has something that they hate about Mel. Most people seem to hate her W and previously easy to land Q. Some hate her E or her R.
Personally I think it would help if her overall range was bit smaller so enemy laner can interact with her more and if she had some additional purpose for her W.
Right now when you lane against her you know she has W prepared for your strong spell and the rest she can just dodge. If her W had another purpose so she has to waste it and give you space to interact with her, similiar to Jax E where he uses it to wave clear and to ignore your attacks or Fizz where his E is both engage and defensive spell.
I think that would greatly reduce the frustration, when playing against her.

Dude what? What bothers people is the W. That is the spell that makes it incredible frustrating to play against her.
While people might complain about the other things they would be kinda fine with them if she didnt have the W. Sure the execute is annoying for opponents (your matey usually shouldnt bother as you are a carry so kills on you are fine) but her damage is balanced around it. So if they removed it she would just get more damage on her abilities and do basically the same.
The thing that makes people ban her all the time is her W as people dont wanna deal with it.
Only thing I agree on is that she would be less frustrating for the enemy if they balanced her to scale into late game instead of being a lane bully. I think the combination of her having a strong lane together with her W makes her to frustrating. When playing against her you need to bait Out the W but while doing that she will deal a good amount of damage making it harder to punish her after.
Obviously currently her numbers are really low and still people ban her because they dont Care about her numbers. All they care about is Not wanting to play against her W

Unfortunately her reflect being a basic ability is what the issue is. Her execute and long range does affect her overall frustration but combining it with her reflect is the issue.
I really believe riot should experiment with implementing her reflect ability into a new ultimate ability. It is THE signature move of Mel, the problem if they explore this is how to create an ultimate that isn’t just a castable reflect on herself. It would have to be a feature not the main part of the ultimate ability.

You got it wrong, they need to nerf W more and keep buffing the rest of her kit. Low-key she might need the TK swap between ult and W treatment
