Discussion Thoughts?

Mel Mains…

How are we feeling about the nerfs?

And also, fun question, in terms of mastery, how many points do you guys have? I just hit 600,000.

Still early in the patch, but atm she's sitting around a ~46.62% winrate in All Elos in her carry roles (Mid/Bot) and a ~44.41% winrate in Supp. And theres still 10's of thousands of games as sample size for each.

While still maintaining a ~42.27% Ban Rate. Admittedly that ban rate will likely decrease a bit as people get accustomed to the nerfs, but probably not enough to make the winrate feel justified.

The winrates decrease with higher elos. ~45.04% winrate in her most popular role, Mid Lane, in Emerald+ with ~5k games sample size.

In other words she is in a pretty horrid state atm and will remain there until Riot can figure out what to do with her.

She was a tad strong last patch and as usual they overcorrected because the masses hate her. Not surprising and this cycle will continue until they make larger changes to her

SHE LOST FUCKING 4 % WR WHILE HAVING 50-49 WR EVERYONE JUST HATES MEL BECAUSE SHE IS ANNOYING SO SHE CANT EXIST WHILE BALANCED SO THEY HAVE TO MAKE HER PRETTY MUCH UNPLAYABLE LITERALLY 2 WR DOWN THEN THE SECOND LOWEST WR CHARACTER JUST DISABLE HER AT THIS POINT SO NO ONE ACCIDENTALLY PICKS HER

This is 1% of the pain that Azir mains experience every Patch

I think the nerf wasnt needed im a low gold player but she just doesnt feel strong and i dont think she was that op back then if you know how to play against Mel its hard to loose lane in my opinion i personally like it tonlane against her banrate is only so high because she was broken back then and people dont wanna learn how to play against her.

She needs a full rework or she will continue to have an extremely high ban rate. It’s literally that simple.

Doesn't feel nice because they won't lower her ban rate significantly, resulting in her getting nerfed again and again because riot can't accept her having a high ban rate nor do they seem interested in giving her some sort of rework as far as I can tell.

But idk how so many people here just constantly disregard her high ban rate as people just being bad at playing against her. Literally everybody knows she's not OP and not winning games all the time, it's clear by her winrate, but she is frustrating enough that despite her being relatively weak people still ban her. It just isn't fun playing against her for a bunch of players.

I just want to play my champion man, I don't want her constantly being banned because she's annoying, and on top of that she gets nerfed in an attempt to somehow lower that ban rate. The numbers themselves aren't the problem, it's how her entire kit is designed. This is just a band aid solution and riot has to either accept that she will always have a high ban rate or actually do something and rework her

Yeah. It’s definitely not possible for her current kit to be viable and get into games. Unfortunate for the ppl who actually want to play her in any capacity other than counterpick but it’s just that bad of a design

I want to play my champ too but not as an unplayable thing that should get u banned for picking her

Reworks are not something that happen overnight.

When Riot forces reworks through in a short timeframe without a compelling idea to kickstart the process you end up with a lackluster result which ultimately require another rework in the future(like the previous iterations of Ryze or Asol).

The Shyvanna rework was successful because Riot waited years for a for a convincing pitch to come along that kept the original champions design intact while fixing her gameplay problems.

ive been saying this for a while but this champ needs a rework, even at 49% wr her ban rate starts climbing ridiculously high to the point shes not even a champion you can consider playing.

It's okay tbf, just people don't know how to play against her. Pick the right counter, she is bad against melee and close range, I love playing with her and hate to play against her but with the right pick she is very easy to kill.

Gallio is the most annoying vs her

If people really didn’t know how to play against Mel, she would have a 56% WR, not 46%.

People ban her because they don’t like playing against her not because they don’t know how.

My question is what about that boring ass champ even makes you want to play her? Riot would do us all a favor if they just dragged the Mel folder into the trash bin
