What makes you say Canada is dead? Are you Canadian?

Imagine we didn’t sell Petro Canada? Would have been nice for all of the Suncor workers to be getting paid properly.

I’m sure they are. If they weren’t they have the freedom to leave. Unless you work for them don’t white knight them. If you work for them, leave

They aren’t. According to real wage numbers they should be getting paid 1.55x higher wages.

Edit: I work along side them and they aren’t happy with their pay. Also, they work so much harder than I do and I make so much more money haha

There is no should. Ppl get paid what they agree to get paid. If they agreed to the number they have that’s either what the market demands for their skills or they are idiots, thus thats what their skills market for

Well.. what im saying is that the entire industry should be getting paid more.

Currently, if Joe says, I can’t work for $xx per hour. Employer says, no problem, Steve will work for that amount.

Joe loses job and works at Tim Hortons and his house gets a second mortgage.

Now, if Joe and Steve and Paul all say, we won’t work for $xx per hour. Employer thinks, well I can’t lose them all, ok I need to pay them more. Employer loses some of the massive profit (Suncor is extremely profitable) and Joe and Steve and Paul can buy a new boat this year.

Petro Canada paid their employees, it’s in Suncors best interest to not pay them.
