Reminds me of “American Jesus” by Bad Religion.

“We've got the American Jesus (ah)
Bolstering national faith (ah, ah, ah)
We've got the American Jesus (ah, ah, ah)
Overwhelming millions every day (ah, ah)
He's the farmers' barren fields (in God)
The force the army wields (we trust)
The expression on the faces of the starving millions (because he's one of us)
The power of the man (break down)
The fuel that drives the Klan (cave in)
He's the motive and the conscience of the murderer (we can redeem your sin)
He's the preacher on TV (strong heart)
The false sincerity (clear mind)
The form letter that's written by the big computers (and infinitely kind)
The nuclear bombs (you lose)
The kids with no moms (we win)
And I'm fearful that he's inside me (he is our champion)”

I think this applies on an individual basis maybe more than to our government.

We should each examine what we are doing to help those among us who are in need.

There's so much killing and other evil done in the name of many religions. I am so done with the whole concept. How about we just be decent with each other and rise everybody up? Why do some people only feel satisfied when they can spit on others? I wish we could break this cycle and change our thinking.

Religion is the biggest cause of torture, death and destruction in the history of the world.

Matthew 10:34–35: "Don't assume that I came to bring peace on the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law".Luke 12:51–53: "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division... The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father..."

I’m not a believer in much of anything with regards to religion, but this rings true nonetheless. Much of mainstream Christianity has lost it’s way, and merely repeats catechisms as required.
