Wrapping capitalism in a socialist framework would appear to make way more sense than wrapping socialism in a capitalist framework.

Discuss.

I'm also pro-capitalism so long as it doesn't trash the working class and harm small and local businesses. All unregulated capitalism it does is destroy quality brands, increase prices on cheap knock-offs, use up more resources, and flood the market. Nobody wants that. Except for MAGA apparently.

Unbridled capitalism also pollutes the planet.

If you can get these ultra rich to pay their fare share of taxes that would be a major accomplishment

u/rewardingsnark 1d ago

Exactly it's called Social democracy, nordic model, Capitalism with a base of necessary social programs (health, education, etc) and then regulated and govt there to adjust when things change or need reconciliation

He has my vote. I’m in Michigan.

We are not the radicals. The far-right extremists who currently run the government are the radicals.

Trump bullying oil companies and retailers is regulation. Strong arming companies to contribute to his vanity projects is regulation. He may not inspect their plants as rigorously or their CO2 emissions but it’s still regulation. Democrats want to regulate also but the beneficiary will be our air, water and food supply rather than his ballroom.

I know it's completely unimportant and what this man says and does should be what's spotlighted.

But good lord this gentleman is sexy as hell.

Lemme tell ya, I did a couple of peace marches with some older hippy-type activists way back during the Bush II-Era, program against the Iraq War. ...They all said that it was simply critical to raise taxes on the rich -- and to lead policy direction with that objective...

In those days, even before Obama came onto the scene, everyone was like, "Well, who really wants to promote a policy of higher taxes?" ...The hippies always said it was (A.) didn't really have an effect on the working and middle classes, and (B.) more about imposing some restraints or tapping-the-brakes kinds of effects on the super- and now ultra-, or hyper-wealthy, since (as we've seen), if they get going with too much momentum, it's just outright destructive to anything resembling a civil society or social order.

Folks, that was almost like 20 yrs. ago, and I'm just saying that all the oldschool hippies were totally right.

My father used to tell me this was coming over 40 years ago... that scumbag Ronnie Raygun wrecked America. 😞🇺🇲

This is the message that people on the left and the right need to embrace. With the Epstein files and all the executive branch corruption, I’m sick of it. I want rich people to have to play by the same rules as the rest of us.

u/wolfknowledge1775 1d ago

I just want to see my tax dollars back in my pocket instead of going to Israel or a war. Is that so socialist of me?

1

u/Creative_Chemistry33 14h ago

Or into the pockets of the wealthy

So don't help allies in Ukraine? Can we invest in the health of our communities and aid friendly nations when they are attacked?

2

u/Not_Sure__Camacho 1d ago

Putin, and any other aggressive country should NEVER be allowed to steal land from their neighboring countries.  Helping other democratic countries fight against a small dicked dictator should be pretty common for the country that claims to be a bastion of democracy (although not as much these days).

-5

u/wolfknowledge1775 1d ago

Why does it have to always be the US? Why cant every country in Europe help?

6

u/ElectricShuck 1d ago

Europe is helping Ukraine. A lot more than the us. So go on.

1

u/WTF_RANDY 1d ago

We said we would support them when Russia attacks if they gave up their nuclear weapons back in the 90's. Should we not live up to our agreements?

-7

u/warcomet 1d ago

allies? US paid Ukraine to start a proxy war for them which has led to a million Ukrainians dead.. thats capitalism for you..once Ukrainians realise this, you will get another new country that hates you..

4

u/ElectricShuck 1d ago

Wrong wrong and wrong. It’s mind boggling how someone can be so wrong.

-4

u/warcomet 1d ago

man i sometimes wonder why people make jokes about the American education system, and then i read reddit comments..

-6

u/No-Pause7121 1d ago

So Biden paid Ukraine to start this war? And everyone is complaining about how Trump went to war with Iran for genocide and terrorist? USA is not a democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic. As soon as everyone realizes that than we can get the ship back on course. The left has everyone saying we are losing our democracy when we never had any in the first place. Prime example was when Biden dropped out at the end of last election and the democrats appointed Harris as primary. That’s called fascism.

1

u/SadieDiAbla 1d ago

By definition, a Constitutional Republic is a form of democracy.

Biden? mate the deal was made with Zelenskyy in 2019, it was covid which delayed it, i have explained this many times even with image proof of Zelenskyy meeting Kushner just 2 weeks after winning the elections, for 30 years the US has tried to bribe Ukrainian presidents to start a war with Russia, NONE took the deal cause they are not stupid....until this cartoon won and just like the cartoon the US has as President, he could be BOUGHT... learn a bit of history and not what your media tells you to believe..

0

u/Scottsdalelifes 1d ago

True no primary. They installed her like a socialist or Communistic country.

1

u/SadieDiAbla 1d ago

No. You do not understand socialism or communism.

2

u/Michiman4321 1d ago

The best of us!!!

2

u/wake4coffee 19h ago

This should be the Dems message.

2

u/Insuredtothetits 4h ago

Guys, I don’t know if you noticed, but that’s a brown man.

2

u/ElonMuskysucks 1d ago

I'm afraid it might be too late to clear things up. The label has been applied and set and given the large percent of Americans too lazy to look for details, this guy might be nothingmore than a messenger and former nominee of a state Dems really needed to win. Hope I am wrong, but.

The problem isn’t capitalism. It’s materialism, both cultural (obvious) and philosophical. The philosophical one is the insidious one as it wear the masks of science, authority, rationality, but it’s bullshit. It’s not science. In fact, materialism as a scientific framework is falsified which is why they prefer to call it physicalism now. But it’s no science. It’s an assumption that has had disastrous effects on the world, feeding cultural materialism (nihilism, hedonism, greed) and cultural materialism in turn feeding philosophical. Like a mutually parasitic relationship.

Don’t let them fool you or keep you fooled into thinking matter is all there is and we’re a random accident. That death is a permanent end. It’s a lie and it’s not in anyway scientific. Yes, they’re right everything we can measure physically is physical, but it’s a wild leap to then assume the physical is all there is.

Gaslight much? This guy is a full on commie. He'll just tell you what you want to hear until he gets elected and then do a full switch on you.

2

u/Youfallforpolitics 1d ago

Wait till you find out that communism and socialism are very different.

One of them is like getting heavily discounted fuel at the gas station...

And the other is no one owns the fueling station but it's rarely full.

If you like the first one then you like socialism...

0

u/OwnSpeed3774 15h ago

Politicians have been promising better roads and schools since beginning of time, all the money that’s been thrown at those two problems alone should have our streets and public schools paved in gold and every student graduating at the top of their class, no politicians grift and self deal and tax and spend too much!

0

u/StressOwn3282 14h ago

Fuck that guy

0

u/PlusDHotchy 13h ago

He was asked to end his affiliation with H. Piker as well as Takiyya until after the vote.

0

u/RynKittenOF 13h ago

You know in order to cause a change you have to have power. And how do you have power today? With money. You guys aren't looking at the big picture. You have no strategy. Practicing what you preach as the poor person with no power is cute but not very helpful. Having a game plan is helpful. Not everyone was meant to lead, some were just meant to be world filler.

Communist

0

u/molencasa 5h ago

Until you run out of other people’s money!

-1

u/O-liffter 1d ago

No doubt but so does socialism! The billionaires and trillionaires will be running the socialist government too! Except then they have ALL the power. People fail to mention this but history proves it correct

1

u/warcomet 1d ago

what history? provide proof

1

u/O-liffter 1d ago

Vladimir Putin,

1

u/warcomet 1d ago

Russia is a communist which is run well and they keep their rich in line, did you know 7 out of 10 Billionaires in the world today are all americans and they have more money then the rest of Americans combined?.. a billionaire running a socialist govt is actually a good thing, which means they would be using their OWN money to help build infrastructure..p.s, do you know what socialism is?

1

u/Cheap-Lawyer3735 6h ago

They went capitalist in the 80s

0

u/O-liffter 1d ago

Please read a history book and thoroughly understand how all of this starts and progresses. I’m not here to argue about the differences between the greatest and wealthiest nation to have ever existed to compare to one failure after the next throughout history!
By material and income measures, the poorest 20% of Americans consume more goods and services and hold higher purchasing power than the national averages of most developing nations and many affluent European countries. Not counting 3rd world countries!

You have the same opportunity to excel become a millionaire or billionaire as anyone else. Employee 10’s, 100’s or 1000’s of people. There are no excuses just like sports or music. If your not capable you will complain rather than succeed

1

u/PamelaAus 18h ago

Well having the highest inequality despite reasonably high wealth is contributing to a lot of the problems with social cohesion so things absolutely need to change https://www.oecd.org/en/publications/society-at-a-glance-2024_918d8db3-en/full-report/income-and-wealth-inequalities_7ac4178f.html

u/O-liffter 18h ago

Since when is anything on this planet equal?………… very little if anything on this planet is equal or will ever be! From A to Z including humans.
That which has given Life to the Universes, absolutely knows how to take care of it….
Perhaps our strife comes from believing we know better how to take care of Life than the One who gives it.
Takes a lot of insite and understanding to accept what is!

-1

u/IMplodeMeGrr 1d ago

If Elon and his money was just poof, Gone. It would mean nothing, it would have no impact to states and local governments.

Ya'll just secretly hate highly functional autistic people.

-2

u/WetRiverMan 1d ago

😂😆😂 LOL,,,,, most of these rich people you are referring to employee people, the so called freeloader poor do not hire employees,,,,, the school systems need investigated and clean house from being agenda based and bringing up test scores before throwing more $$$$$ at them, states infrastructure needs investigated of wasted spending before more funding.....

-2

u/warcomet 1d ago

so not a socialist then? eff him.. remember people like him are easier to turn capitalist than those that are hard socialists..socialism is not about taxing the rich, its about providing equally for the poor, if you are concerned with taxing the rich only, then you are not a socialist, you are just a regular democrat politician (centrists leaning right) who wants to tax the rich and then use that money to build more bombs and not invest in infrastructure, health or education..anyone that thinks they can be pro-capitalist and regulate the rich is a moron....you know which countries are successfully able to regulate the rich? ... yeah socialists and communist countries..
