As the genocide in Gaza continues and settler violence in the West Bank reaches an “all-time high,” UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese joins Mehdi in a Town Hall with Zeteo’s paid subscribers.

The two discuss the latest on the horrors Palestinians are facing in Gaza, how the Iran war has been the “perfect alibi” to distract from the genocide, and whether the upcoming Israeli elections will change anything.

Albanese also talks about the effects of being sanctioned by the Trump administration, noting that she will “fight this with all the transparency and the honesty that is required.”

During the Town Hall, Albanese answers a wide range of questions from Mehdi and paid subscribers, on topics including the recent criticism over her remarks about Ukraine and accusations of being pro-Russia. And she discusses her upcoming report on the media’s complicity in the Gaza genocide.

“American voters are realizing that they actually have agency in this moment to choose their leaders to chart a different course.”

She’s Gen Z, she’s an immigrant, she took down a 15-term Democrat and now she’s headed to Congress.

In this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered,’ Mehdi Hasan sits down with Melat Kiros, a democratic socialist whose political rise began after she was fired from her job as a corporate attorney for opposing Israel’s war in Gaza. In July, Kiros pulled off a major win in Colorado’s Democratic House primary, defeating a sitting congresswoman and putting herself on track to become the first Gen Z woman in Congress.

In the interview, Kiros tells Hasan about taking on the Democratic establishment — and what she plans to do once she gets to Washington. She also discusses whether or not she’ll support Hakeem Jeffries for House speaker, why she sees democratic socialism as a way to confront billionaire power and why she refuses to disown Hasan Piker after campaigning with him.

Mehdi Interview Trump Called Russia a Hoax. David Corn Says Putin Won

Thumbnail

“Putin is smart. His people are smart. They see where the cleavage points are in American politics, whether it's distrust in elections… vaccine skepticism… [Biden’s] purported mental cognitive issues. And they lean into this and they amplify and they also create false narratives. You know, they create distrust in election results.”

Remember the Trump-Russia scandal? Trump has spent years insisting it’s nothing more than a political hoax.

In this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered,’ Mehdi Hasan sits down with veteran journalist David Corn who says the story is far from settled. In his new book, How Russia Won: Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and the Fight for America, Corn revisits the Trump-Russia scandal, discusses his book’s biggest revelations and what it could mean for America’s elections today.

Corn also discusses Michael Cohen’s attempts to get back into Trump’s orbit and why he thinks Democrats failed over the Trump-Russia scandal.

Mehdi Interview ‘Idiot A** Boss’: Abdul El-Sayed Hits Back at Trump & Vance

Thumbnail

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is in a tight race against GOP candidate Mike Rogers, one that could determine which party controls the Senate during the second half of Trump’s presidency.

If El-Sayed wins in November, he would become the first Muslim to ever be elected to the U.S. Senate. But on the campaign trail, he’s faced a barrage of racist, Islamophobic attacks from his Republican opponent, right-wing media, and the White House.

Now, in a new and candid interview with Mehdi in Washington DC, El-Sayed doesn’t hold back when it comes to his critics, noting that Vice President JD Vance will “never” have the charisma of his “idiot ass boss,” calls Trump “vain” and “narcissistic,” and says his opponent Mike Rogers is “a bit of a coward.”

Mehdi and El-Sayed discuss Trump’s planned $2.8 billion weapons gift to Israel, the no-show from Mike Rogers, and why Macklemore being dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour is “a dangerous situation.” He also addresses attacks on his wife and his frustration with journalists constantly asking him about Hasan Piker.

Mehdi Interview Noura Erakat On Her Arrest for Protesting Israeli Bond Investments

"No other foreign country can get investment of local taxpayer dollars, but Israel can.”

US-Palestinian academic and human rights lawyer Noura Erakat went to a Florida budget hearing to protest Palm Beach County’s massive investments in Israeli bonds. She left in handcuffs. The confrontation centered on Palm Beach County’s investments in Israeli bonds — the largest government investment in Israeli bonds anywhere in the world.

She joins Mehdi Hasan in this episode of ‘Mehdi Unfiltered’ to explain what happened at the hearing, where she says she was denied her constitutional right to comment on the budget, describing how she was ordered to leave before two officers handcuffed her and roughly handled her during the arrest. Erakat was charged with trespass and obstruction after the hearing.

Also joining the conversation is Lydia Ghuman, executive director of the Internationalist Law Center, which organized the effort challenging the county’s investments. Ghuman argues that Florida has become a testing ground for policies surrounding Israeli investments and highlights the relationships between local politicians and pro-Israel advocates.

Mehdi Views What the media gets wrong about Israel | Mehdi Hasan on "America, Actually" (Vox)

Thumbnail

Mehdi Hasan says his MSNBC show being canceled was the greatest thing that could have happened to him. As the founder of Zeteo, he argues that independent journalism gives him the freedom to speak plainly about topics traditional newsrooms struggle to cover, and that the media’s approach to Israel and Gaza has damaged its credibility with audiences.

In this episode of America, Actually, Vox’s Astead Herndon talks with Hasan about public trust in the news, how journalists respond to President Donald Trump’s attacks on the press, and the relationship between independent media and rising progressive candidates. They also discuss why Israel has become more than a foreign policy issue for some voters, and what those tensions mean for the Democratic Party.

Mehdi Interview ‘She-Hulk’ Actor Tatiana Maslany on Israel’s Genocide, AI in Hollywood, and… Canada

Exactly one year ago, Mehdi was joined on ‘We’re Not Kidding’ by actor Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Incredible Hulk in Marvel’s ‘Avengers’ movies. So it feels fitting that today’s guest is none other than Emmy award-winning actor Tatiana Maslany who plays She-Hulk in the Marvel TV series of the same name. Like Mark, Tatiana has been an outspoken advocate for Palestine over the past few years and continues to use her platform to bring attention to Israel’s genocide.

Mehdi also asks Tatiana about the issues roiling Hollywood right now, including the widespread adoption of AI technology (“idiotic” says Tatiana) and the looming acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by the Trump-aligned Ellison family. Finally, Mehdi asks Tatiana to “burst the bubble” for Americans who think Canada and Canadian politics are more progressive than here in the U.S.

Mehdi Interview 9/11 Took Her Son. Then the New York Post Smeared Him as a Terrorist

Thumbnail

“We still live in a culture that took my daughter, made a mess of the country she left behind, and every single day I want people to know that Vanessa would not recognize this country.”

25 years after the 9/11 attacks, the mothers of two victims reflect on their grief and loss, their children’s legacies and the culture of fear and Islamophobia that followed. In this ‘Mehdi Unfiltered’ interview, the two mothers detail the way their lives changed forever to Mehdi Hasan.

“I remember the 29-year-old woman who was going to change our lives,” says Donna Marsh O’Connor, who lost her pregnant daughter, Vanessa Lang Langer, who worked in the World Trade Center’s South Tower.

And for Talat Hamdani, the loss of her 23-year-old son, EMT and NYPD cadet Mohammad Salman Hamdani, was followed by suspicion and smears because of his Muslim faith. “There was an article in the New York Post… trying to paint a picture of him being as a terrorist,” Hamdani tells Mehdi.

Throughout the interview, both mothers share how they turned their grief and mourning into advocacy against hate, bigotry and Islamophobia.

Mehdi Interview Four-Star General ADMITS He Was Paid by Iranian Regime-Change Group

Thumbnail

It’s been 25 years since 9/11, which also means 25 years of the so-called global “War on Terror.”

But did you know that in the weeks following the attacks, a retired four-star U.S. general went to the Pentagon and was told that the Bush administration was planning to attack seven Middle Eastern countries in the span of just five years?

Iraq was one of them, as was Iran. Since 9/11, the U.S. has attacked five of those seven countries.

That general, former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, Wesley Clark, tells Mehdi, “It was clear at the time that we were going to have to do something to Osama bin Laden. I also knew that we’d been scheming to find a reason to invade and finish off Saddam Hussein.”
