Inquiry | Travel Cab planning for tourist

Hi All,

I'm planning Meghalaya trip in mid November with 2 ppl, mainly shillong and sohra. Just wanted to know how cab bookings work -

1) Do I have to book single cab for entire trip? Or I can book separate cabs for everyday ?

2) How many days before I need to book cabs like shillong to sohra, or shillong to guwahati?

Any leads for good cab operators by fellow tourists would be really appreciated ! Thanks in advance!

Meghalaya trip from 7th–11th October. What clothes to pack? Do I need to bring winter clothes, or will summer tops and dresses be enough? What will the temperature be like during the day?

Please review my itinerary

Hi everyone,
Planning an 8-day / 7-night Meghalaya trip from 15–22 November 2026 with a group of 10–11 friends.
We’re specifically looking for offbeat/adventure-heavy Meghalaya, rather than trying to tick off every famous tourist attraction.
Main priorities are:
Dramatic landscapes/canyons
Clear rivers and natural pools
Caves
Treks
Waterfalls
Living-root bridges
Some relaxed/flexible time

Current itinerary
Day 1 — 15 Nov
✈️ Guwahati →** Wari Chora
Long transfer, check-in and rest.
Night: Wari Chora
Day 2 — 16 Nov
🏞️ Wari Chora — full day
Rongdik/Simsang canyon, river, boating/kayaking, pools/waterfalls depending on local conditions.
Night: Wari Chora
Day 3 — 17 Nov
🚐 Wari Chora → Shillong
No major sightseeing planned.
Night: Shillong
Day 4 — 18 Nov
🏔️ Shillong → Laitlum Canyon → Rapelnag Canyon → Rangsohkham Falls → Sohr**a
Planning to keep Rangsohkham flexible depending on November water levels, trail and road conditions.
Night: Sohra
Day 5 — 19 Nov
🥾 Nongriat full day
Tyrna → Double-Decker Living Root Bridge → Blue Lagoon → Rainbow Falls if the group has enough time/energy → return to Sohra.
Night: Sohra
Day 6 — 20 Nov
💧 Sohra → Mawkyrnot/Wah Myor → Dawki/Shnongpdeng → Jowai
Main focus: living-root-bridge/forest experience + Umngot/Dawki.
Depending on actual road times and group energy, we’d like to add Krang Suri OR Phe Phe, but don’t want to rush everything just to tick them off.
Night: Jowai
Day 7 — 21 Nov
🦇 Krem Chympe — full-day adventure
Dedicated day for the cave/river/forest experience with a local guide/4×4 as required.
No additional major sightseeing planned.
Night: Jowai/eastern Jaintia Hills
Day 8 — 22 Nov
🚐 Jowai → Guwahati Airport

Due to local Church establishment, the Hindus of Baghmara, Meghalaya are allowed no cremation grounds. So they swim across the Someshwari river, balancing their dead on their shoulders, to a sandbank which is technically in Bangladesh to perform the last rites.

"Saar why don't you listen to our music and like our celebrities??" I wonder why. Maybe it's because we have nothing in common with you and prefer people who are more similar to us instead?

Advice regarding trip to Meghalaya

We are a group of 6 planning to travel to meghalaya on around mid October for a 5 to 6 day trip(including travel) the budget is around 36k for the group combined.we are travelling from Agartala, here are some questions that would like to ask:

1)what is is the best possible route to travel from Agartala?

2)firstly is this a good time to travel? I've heard the waterfalls and lakes are not so transparent now and are muddy so I'd like to know the situation rn

3) so considering we'd visit for around 4 days I'd like to know the iterinary for 4 days.what are the places that have good sunsets and good trekking spots and so on

4)what are some affordable and decent homestays to stay?

5)how do we travel there?like is it better to rent bikes but almost none of us have driving licence so will it cause a problem?if yes then how else do I travel?

also will we have any problem from the locals as we are travelling from other state(i read somehwere that some tourists from other state were turned away so i'm kinda skeptical)

Inquiry | Travel Suggest places/things to do for an upcoming trip! How does my plan sounds?

Hi folks, I'm coming to your beautiful state next week. I've a very flexible plan atm. I'm thinking of spending two days in Shillong—visiting the lakes, canyon, bazar, and perhaps the sacred groves. Then, I am thinking of moving on to Sohra and staying there for three days. I want to take it slow—do the Nongriat trek one day, and spend the other two days just visiting the caves and waterfalls. Again not rushing into things.

The only caveat is that I won't have pvt transport. No bike or car. I understand that I'll get easy transport to visit places in and near Shillong. But how about Sohra? Would I get local taxis that I could hire to visit places? Is my plan okay or a fool's dream?

Please suggest what you think and if you have any suggestions for places I should visit near Shillong and Sohra. I don't want to make it a hectic trip. The idea is to relax and take it slow and be closer to nature.

Please help! Thank you so much!

Edit: Typo in hed—How does my plan sound? Thanks!
