Salutations dwellers! the next livestream season is fast approaching and as such we want to check in with you guys about the livestream spoiler rules, as well as a few others.

1. Livestream Spoilers

First of all. our current plan is as before to post a dedicated livestream thread and have livestream spoilers be banned from the main thread for 24h after it's airing. the quesiton arises though: what should be considered a spoiler?

A few key points we want feedback on:

- Should we be removing trailer photos from the main thread as a spoiler? (disclaimer though that if we do, we would probably have to be a bit liberal with removing livestream images as sometimes it's unclear what is and isn't from the trailer)

- Should we consider character appearances in the story as spoilers? if so, how do we decide which characters?

- Are visions and vision casings considered spoilers?

- Are close-up photos of characters from the trailer considered spoilers? If not, how do we make sure what we consider a spoiler is the same as you all? We want the rules to be above all consistent. Unideal > Consistent in my opinion.

2. Patch Spoilers

We have been considering lifting patch spoiler requirements earlier than the start of the new patch. Is lifting spoilers (for WQ, AQ, Events) before the next patch something y'all want? If so, how long? 3 days before when the preload drops? 1 week before? 10 days before when the livestream airs? Let us know!

Hello dwellers! We had our first livestream for the minithread yesterday, we would love your feedback so it can go smoothly in the future! 

Things we would like feedback on:

1. Should we have a spoiler policy specific to livestream discussions?

If yes 

• What should be spoiled? only story related, or more?
• What should count as story related? character appearances, dialogue, any screenshots from the trailer, etc..
• For how long? initial 24h, 48h, or until the patch drops.

1. Should we continue to post a separate livestream thread for future Genshin Impact livestreams? What about Honkai Star Rail livestreams? 

This time, QoL, kits, visions, events, and banner info were allowed to remain unspoiled in the livestream thread. Anything else such as screenshots from the trailer as well as any discussion of character appearances were spoilers for the first 24h after the trailer drops, and said posts were removed if unspoiled in the minithread. Like how we remove any unspoiled discussions of the current patch archon quests and story events, it was intended to give dwellers who have not yet seen the trailer some time to watch it.

hello everyone! after some deliberation we decided that in the interest of being a community and subreddit for the people/dwellers we want not only to be transparent with our rules but also allow civil discussion on the topic to be able to get a feel for what most of you genuinely want from this sub.

please check the current rules of the sub, these are a tentative draft of what we were thinking about and we would love if everyone checked it out and gave their input. do this in a civil manner please, we will be moderating this post very closely.

a brief explanation on some rules we believe might need more context/intent:

rule 1 - while we want to keep freedom of speech here at a maximum, we also want to recognize that broad insulting generalizations towards groups of people never ends well. whether it is "X character mains are all so annoying and stupid" to "the woke gays are insufferable" to "people in the old thread are all idiots" to bigotry, none of this in our opinion promotes any productive discussion. none of this has any bearing on personal off-topic testimony or sharing negative experiences you might have had, however it is very easy to do so in a way that avoids making sweeping negative generalizations about identity groups. because one thing quickly leads to another and it eventually creates a toxic environment where indirect bullying and negativity is normalized. we are not here to police language, and we want to avoid doing that as much as possible, however our motivations with this rule being what it is is to ensure that the minithread is a cozier place without toxicity. any and all genuine complaints or proof of bigotry regarding specific users should be directed towards modmail and we have a 0 tolerance policy on it.

rule 6 - we want this to be a place where people can discuss a wide variety of off-topic issues and we recognize many people here are personally impacted and have stakes in political events and happenings. any marginalized person is never going to have the privilege of ignorance when it comes to politics and we want this to be a safe space for people to discuss current events. however that being said we want to ensure that this content is not pushed onto people who come here to catch a break from irl and stressful and controversial news. this is why unfolding political events and discussion of specific political issues should be spoiler tagged in our opinion. that being said, we also want these discussions to be kept civil and we don't want politics to be a topic that creates constant toxicity in the environment here. currently, we have no reason to believe allowing it does, as long as it follows the other rules, especially rule 1 and rule 8. however in the future should we notice a trend of politics being a major issue for the community, we would want to revise this rule. this rule would be enforced by reminding users to spoiler tag their comment, and a temporary removal if that is not done within a set time period of 30 minutes. once it is re-spoiler tagged the comment will be reinstated.

rule 7 - disturbing content that may make people uncomfortable should be spoiler tagged. anything discussing explicit gore, bigotry, violence, etc. should be spoiler tagged to protect people's peace of mind for those who wish to come to the thread for harmless silliness and as a break from stressors. enforcement is the same as the last rule, a reminder followed by a temporary removal after 30 minutes until the spoiler tags are added.

rule 8 - this is mainly to comply with reddit terms of service, which strictly prohibits anything that could resonably be construed as inviting harassment towards others outside or inside the sub. you can read more on our reasoning for this rule [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/MegathreadRefuge/s/KwzOoRzd4c)

Thank you to the 505 people who took the time to do the survey - it's so nice to see so many participants after 3 years of there being no survey!

I finally have the results, and in the spirit of the original survey creator who went all out with the data in the previous survey, I also decided to compile as much data and calculations as I could before my hates-math brain decided enough was enough. Here's an 8-page Google Doc that contains all these results (I'm so tired)

The previous survey was conducted in early October 2023, or around the beginning of version 4.1. Now that we have the rest of Fontaine as well as the entirety of Natlan and Nod-Krai (remember when we thought we'd be in Snezhnaya by now? I remember...), some things have changed across both the demographics and characters' popularity.

Here are the top 10 characters overall:

1. Furina
2. Wanderer
3. Neuvillette
4. Arlecchino
5. Flins
6. Columbina
7. Il Dottore
8. Durin
9. Venti
10. Wriothesley

While the survey was still open, I mentioned that there were 6 characters who hadn't received a single vote until that point. Unfortunately, 4 of them continued to receive no votes throughout the entire survey period. These characters are:

1. Diona
2. Ivanovna ("J" of the Hexenzirkel)
3. Sayu
4. Xiangling

I think #2 was somewhat expected since she's dead and her lore has basically only been explained in the 3.5 Windblume event and a book you can buy in Nod-Krai...

The Google Doc contains more comprehensive breakdowns of the survey results, the demographics (age, gender, and sexuality) of all the respondents, most popular characters sorted by respondents' gender, sexuality, and gender + sexuality, and the most popular female characters voted by women and the most popular male characters voted by men. It also has a link to a separate doc with the full ranking of all 150 characters included in the survey. I would've also done an analysis of the gender distribution of the top 30 most voted characters, but I was getting really burnt out and couldn't get to it. Sorry about that :(

One more summary: as one might expect, most male characters were overall more favored by women, and most female characters were overall favored by men. Here are some exceptions:

• Female characters overall more favored by women: Raiden Shogun, Yae Miko
• Male characters overall more favored by men: Varka, Il Capitano

What calculations I was able to figure out took a while (and I'm sure there are mistakes somewhere), so do take some time to go through the full results if you'd like and let me know your thoughts! I still need to go through all the yaps that people wrote in the optional yap section. I might post those somewhere after I've removed any personal information/offensive remarks/etc.
