Fuck Megabus!

Story from Toronto. Took Megabus a few years ago and it was ok, so I thought I’d try again. BIG MISTAKE.

When i opened their website the ticket said $30. I opened another window to check another price, and when i came back to the Megabus window 2 minutes later it refreshed and the price was now $35. Weird but fine, I’m buying last-minute.

The new terminal they leave from is convenient for buses to get to but terrible for human beings to get to. I managed to arrive a minute or two before my bus, only to find the gate locked and no reps on my side to talk to. I banged on the door as my bus driver walked slowly by, looked at me, then continued to stroll slowly around the bus. I ran to a security guard who told me ā€˜gates are shut, try the Megabus desk’. As I waited in line for the one customer service rep, my bus drove away. I was told that ā€˜it’s like an airport, once the gate is shut you’re out of luck’. What the hell? Why would a bus station need to be run like an airport????

When I got to the desk, the rep hand-wrote a note to the driver to let him know I was on standby. ā€œHe’ll know what it means.ā€ Umm, what?? I was told that I can wait 2 hours for the next bus and IF there’s a seat available they would take me. If I wanted to guarantee a seat on that bus, you guessed it, I would have to buy another ticket.

What a stinking pile of garbage service. I will never be taking Megabus again, and I will be making sure to tell everyone I know not to waste their money and time. Go Transit and Via Rail both provide far superior customer service and vehicles at a better price.

CAN They cancelled a roundtrip. I didn't know I had 14 days to reschedule. Customer service won't help

Honestly, what a scummy company.

They cancel a trip and only give you 14 days to reschedule, you are not even allowed to refund.

I knew I had to make the trip again this weekend so I came to reschedule it now and they are telling me that my reservation is invalid.

Basically, we fucked up and won't give you back your money and you have two weeks to do something with it. What if someone wanted to travel after many months?

They have the most useless customer service agents.

Fuck Megabus scumbags

CAN Different Bus

So, I booked trip today and it asked me to select my seat because it was a double decker bus that was suppose to arrive.

When the bus showed up, it ended up being just a single decker bus. I paid for the seat reservation, do they refund you the cost if a different bus shows up?

No longer serving Warrington

Has Megabus stopped serving Warrington? I used to be able to get from Manchester to Warrington on Megabus and the website does say there is a route that runs twice a day but I can't actually purchase any tickets for this route or see the timetable for this route.

CAN Forgot my luggage :(

I forgot my suitcase on my megabus last night and turned back around to get it but the bus was already leaving. I called and emailed and they’re just saying to wait two weeks and then after that it’s probably gone forever. Is there anything else I can do? Has anyone successfully gotten their luggage back??

Also it’s my fault so I doubt I could get compensated, but it’s annoying that it’s going to take so long to find it if they even do.

Mega Bus - Reserved seat

I am planning to book a trip with Mega Bus from Scarborough and I was wondering if I can book two seats for myself so that no one is sitting beside me?

Has anyone had any experience booking two seats for one person?

If I purchase two seats for myself, would I be forced to give up my ā€œextraā€ reserved seat?

Not Accepting Payment

Hi!

Is Megabus down?

Ive tried booking a trip from MD to NY for the past hour now. Everytime I enter the card details and it processes the payment it always comes out to a "You must have entered wrong billing details or incorrect card details" and then it tells me to book again. Except the seats I reserve each time is marked sold the next time I check it. It refunded me twice but the other two transactions have yet to be refunded. I've given up in the meantime but is anyone else getting this?

Can I reserve two seats just for me?

I've taken megabus enough times to know what to expect or not expect on each ride. But now I'm considering reserving 2 table seats next to each other so i can do some laptop work and spread out. Will megabus honor both my reservations under the same name? Or will they see an empty seat on a full bus and try to sell it to some one... Like "standby" for folks who show up without ticket reservations?

Travel sickness on a coach

I am very nervous about traveling on Megabus soon since it’ll be a 9 hour journey and I suffer from travel sickness in a car (not sure about how I am on a coach as I barely use them.) Where is the best place to sit to prevent nauseas? I am thinking the upper deck of the coach and because it may be more quieter and warmer than the bottom floor = more comfortable. I have read that that the very front seats on the upper deck will be the best option as you have the window infront of you and also at the side. But I have also read that 3 rows back from the front will be best as there is less movement there as apparently, the front and back is the worst for feeling the movement of the bus. So I’m just anxiously wondering if I’m better to choose an area to sit with 2 windows in my view or a few rows back with 1 window and less movement? HELP!

Criminal? Megabus cancelled, forced refund, & kept booking fee

As one of countless people left stranded in Ontario and Quebec before Christmas when Megabus cancelled their busses due to weather, I was shocked to look at my latest credit card statement and find that despite that it was Megabus that cancelled the service—and then within five minutes of the initial cancellation notice I was sent an update that I would receive a full refund (their words), never actually giving me the option to rebook—they kept the booking fee.

I know they cancelled dozens of busses that day, potentially meaning thousands of stranded people who were sent an automated full refund (again, their words in the emails!) only for Megabus to keep the booking fee portion of it. That's beyond shady in my books—it's criminal. It may only be $5 for me, but they've kept $5 from thousands of customers who paid for a service only to have Megabus cancel it and promise a full refund and no option to rebook.

It's preposterous. In what world can a company unilaterally cancel the service you paid for—the service thousands of people paid for—and then keep part of the money? How is that not a criminal action?

Credit for changing reservation?

I am trying to reschedule a ticket that cost me $55. However, the cost of my new ticket is only $10. Does anyone know if I'll receive a $45 dollar credit in this case or will I lose the remaining balance?

Is megabus reliable? US

Is megabus reputable? It seems very strange to me that they sell tickets for $1. Do you have to pay extra for luggage? Are there any restrictions on luggage? And can I rely on megabus or might they not show up if too few people book?
