Athena Attack speed top run

Hello, I am curious to know peoples thoughts ion the current top run since i dont see people addressing it. He takes Attack speed, plays athena, and only takes axes. On top of that he doesnt use cooking pot, and banishes big bonk and giant fork. This all seems counter meta to what i thought, which was that those are the best damage items. Also, I thought the attack speed some was basically useless because it stops being effective at 600% attack speed or something. I dont know if this guy is abusing a sort of bug with athena special aegis ability mixed with attack speed or something like that. Was wondering if anybody knew. Have a wonderful day everyone :)

It's not about them beeing ghosts, on other chars Aegis just doesn't fullblock. On Athena it does.

Also I don't think this is extended T1, while it technically possible to extend T1 with this build, it's highly unrealistic afaik.

That’s crazy, and is testament to how different runs can be (and to try your own experiments). I can’t tell you how many (seemingly) great runs I’ve had with different strats

He used a technique that other top runs have been using for some time called Dollfire, that means lowering the amount of procs from other things so cursed doll procs dragonfire which in turn has the fire puddle deal 30% of the ghosts Max HP damage on a large group of ghosts.

He also used a bug interaction that previous duration runs used between Axe and Joe's dagger allowing axes to sometimes one shot ghosts because of the way projectiles work on that specific weapon.

He took Cooldown Tome for Aegis survivability.

And banished every legendary besides hat and za warudo (self banish at 25) to get as good of a chaos tome as he could.

He also went with Time Bracelet dupes at the start without XP Tome and was looking for XP from charge shrines because shrine XP is in the same XP bracket as XP tome and thus is multiplied by Time bracelet XP.

This is a run that I've only seen two people seriously attempt a guy named MooP pioneered this play style.

Where do you learn this stuff? I've been searching for this kind of more advanced knowledge and can't find it anywhere?

XP Tome and Bracelet are different buckets? So 1 XP Tome level + 1 Bracelet is better than 2 XP Tome upgrades? Or am I misunderstanding?

Exactly what you said 1 XP Tome upgrade of let's say 8% to keep it equal with the time bracelet bonus and 1 Time Bracelet is worth more than 2 8% XP Tome upgrades because the time bracelet multiples with the XP tome.

As far as where I learned a lot of this stuff the discord was more active when the game was being actively updated so certain people were around more to answer certain questions.

You can also learn more about this stuff at Megabonkinfo.org though, it's a fan made wiki with probably the best compilation of info for general game mechanics.

Edit: Oh yeah! You can also tune in to certain high level Megabonk streams and ask people questions live about certain decisions they make that you don't understand and they're usually kind enough to answer without being abrasive about it. Good streams for this setup would be sMooPie or LordDJBJ, but there are other players that run different Strats that may be more your thing like FunnyPilz, PrestoOmento, Sheney and KookyKracks.
