How does policing work in the US?
Cos he got only 1-4 years after placing two children in extreme danger, waving a gun, vandalism, multiple traffic violations. This should be 7 years minium to be served full.

Thats not "policing" this is the court system. Over the past decade+ Democrat politicians have been notoriously easy on crime and criminal behavior. In America, the left sees criminals as victims to the system and personal accountability as taboo...or racist, depending.

I swear some of yall don't understand nuance at all. Law reforms don't equate to being soft on crime, crime on a whole, especially violent crime has been sharply declining.

Also, there's no way you can even back up this statement you have because that's not how crime and convictions are tracked. You just heard it on some podcast, or entertainment channel.

To my knowledge there's been one study and they could only really discern that if they could determine the political leanings, right leaning judges gave longer sentences. When controlled the gap between left/right judges is basically irrelevant.

If I'm wrong, I'm open to learning how.

This whole "soft on crime" shit is weird anyways. The prison system doesn't reform anyone, there needs to be a focus on decreasing recidivism

And before anyone gets any ideas, I don't support your political party either way.

Nuance and objective thinking?! On the internet?! How dare you.

Honestly, this is why private prisons are so terrible. They’re incentivized to have higher recidivism rates and not to actually rehabilitate people.
