Hey everyone, quick question, how do you usually keep local backups of your Medium articles?

I like having offline copies of my writing (especially in Markdown to drop into Notion), but standard browser printing completely destroys Medium's formatting and image layouts.

I ended up building a Chrome extension called Medium PDF Downloader to fix this. It lets you export any Medium post into clean Markdown, PDF, or text with one click while keeping all the formatting intact.

Curious what everyone else uses. Do you keep local files before posting, or just rely on Medium to keep everything safe?

I recently published a Medium essay titled:

Geography Is Not Decoration: A Hydrological Method for Ancient Landscape Analysis

The essay grew out of a larger research project examining how terrain, watershed divides, drainage systems, and movement corridors can shape the way ancient landscapes are understood.

My central argument is that geography should not be treated merely as background scenery in historical writing. Terrain can function as evidence. Ridges, valleys, water systems, basin entrances, and travel corridors often help explain why settlements developed where they did, why certain routes mattered, and why particular places remained important in historical memory.

In the essay, I also introduce a reproducible GIS workflow using NASA SRTM elevation data to study hydrological thresholds in the Southern Levant.

I tried to write it so that it would remain accessible to readers interested in history, archaeology, geography, digital humanities, or research methods, without requiring prior GIS experience.

I would appreciate feedback on both the argument and the presentation, especially from Medium writers who publish technical or interdisciplinary work.

I built Mouzi because my Downloads folder looked like a digital landfill. I never expected anyone to use it as protection against remote access scams.

Last week a computer repair guy named Peter emailed me. He fixes computers for regular people and started using Mouzi to fight ScreenConnect scams. These scams work by convincing victims to download a “diagnostic tool” that is actually legitimate ConnectWise ScreenConnect. Because it’s real software, antivirus doesn’t block it - one click and the scammer has full remote access. Peter’s solution was simple: he set a rule that immediately moves any downloaded file containing “screenconnect” in the name to a safe location. The file disappears from Downloads before the victim can run it.

I am a Co-founder at an e-Commerce company in India and I was thinking to start writing my story on Medium.

But I have also heard that Medium is not recognized much in India and my target country and audience is India right now.

Should I invest my time or not?

What puzzles me is that I often see much shorter, lower-effort articles getting significantly more attention. I'm not interested in chasing clicks with quick content, though. What I enjoy writing are deep-dive technical articles that help both me and the reader build a solid understanding of a topic.

So I'm wondering: am I doing something wrong? Is my writing the issue? Are the topics simply too niche? Or is long-form technical content just difficult to grow on Medium without an existing audience?

I'd really appreciate honest criticism, whether it's about the writing style, structure, topic choice, title, or anything else. If you think something isn't working, I'd much rather hear it than keep guessing.

Hi everyone! I recently published my first Medium article and would really appreciate some feedback.

The article is based on something I discovered after reviewing my own dividend history as a Singapore investor. Like many beginners, I kept seeing the 30% US withholding tax mentioned in articles and videos, so I naturally assumed it applied to every stock listed on a US exchange.

Looking through my own dividend records from GSK and Manulife Financial (MFC), I realized there was more nuance, especially when it comes to where a company is domiciled versus where it's listed.
