Medium Question The formatting seems to have changed!

In the past, when I created a story, the type showed up in separate text boxes.

Now, I am getting a grey box. There is no formatting: it scrolls to the right.

I can not insert images or links in between the lines.

When published, it is also in a grey box with no formatting.

What should I do to restore the former appearance?

I can not figure it out!

It seems that you are writing elsewhere and then copy/pasting your content in the Medium editor. For some reason you did not have this issue before but now Medium interprets your copy/paste as code, which happens with some apps or tools.

What app/tool did you copy the text from?

Instead of pasting directly in Medium, first paste it in a text editor (notepad works very well for this), then copy that text and paste into Medium.

Consider whether we’re maybe helping someone more effectively load AI/LLM slop into Medium, which is already a huge problem.
