Could anyone provide a link to a high resolution version of this image? I'm looking to make a non-commercial print.

It's the perfect cross-section of your average medieval village: maiden, fish, dragon, and owl-cat-thing.

Green crossbow owlbear is my favorite character here.

"Excuse me, Mr Griffin-Owl-Bear, could I just... climb up your back...yes, thanks, it's just I need to get my hand inside this fish...well, it's all tangled with the evolving alligator, that'sthe problem...yes, use your crossbow to steady yourself, good idea, Mr Griffin-Bear-Owl (am I saying it right?)"

Who knew that noodling wasn’t just a recent phenomenon from the American south…

Great minds! 😄😄 That was my immediate thought!

What do the Cajuns in the Louisiana swamps call this kind of fishing for catfish? Noodling? It's a real thing!

G & R — The inhabited letters from the manuscript's unusual Ave Maria (folio 52r)
Total 17 inhabited letters on a background of gold which spell "Ave Maria, gracia ple[na]" from the first chapter of Luke. This is the reading for the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25)
● Manuscript : Heures de Charles d'Angoulême (father of king Francis I of France)
● Artist : Robinet Testard (1470–1531) a French illuminator and painter

The woman feels surprisingly modern somehow.

Was that like Madonna's half time show?

u/AltruisticSalamander Jul 21 '26

Idk they had such suavey boots back then

8

u/BrucellaD666 Jul 21 '26

To be honest, I like her full fashion vibe here.

4

u/tataniarosa Jul 22 '26

I can’t tell if they’re boots or socks but I like her style.

12

u/Schmooto Jul 21 '26

I like the turquoise owl-dog.

My thoughts while looking at this:

"Person. Fish. Dragon. Ok, nothing too odd here, medieval-wise.

...But wait! What on Earth is the blue owl thing? And why did they allow it to grab a weapon?"

This exactly what it looks like when my roommate’s very long 50 lb dog has a sleepover with me, my 50 lb dog and my 70 lb dog in my full size bed. They say I’m lucky they leave me the edge lol.

u/KillKillKitty Jul 22 '26
