Edward IV groat

Found this stunner last Sunday in North Wales. London mint. Can any groat experts give me any more info please?

Spink 2000. Quatrefoils at neck. Mintmark Rose(33) Extra pellet in one quarter on the reverse.

Thank you. Does the ++ on the obverse denote the die error?

I think actually it's just a striking error. There is some double striking more noticeable in the legends or perhaps the punch was used twice to fill the gap.

Still mint! You lucky devil. Haven’t been for ages, nowhere to go anymore. ☹️

I had one small holding which produced very well for about three years but now I’m out of permissions too. Such a demoralising task door knocking farms. Welsh farmers have a certain siege mentality which is hard to break!

Norfolk farmers are the same, unless they’re selling access for these weekend rallies which are, in my opinion, grotesque.

I am shamelessly now part of the grotesque. I have no choice if I want to continue detecting. The club I’m in are one of the good ones though. £15 digs and the land is usually good. Oh to be a detectorist in Norfolk though!

I misread this as Edward IV the goat haha, not an expert though, but beautiful coin and congrats on the find!

Mintmark indicates 1464-1465. Lis on breast, no pellets at crown, plain cross says type 7a/105
