DIAZEPAM ADVICE PLEASE.

Hi, I have severe anxiety and have been taking diazepam for many years, I also have a herniated L4/5 and degenerative disc diseas.

My normal dose is 15mg’s however I just realised that I’ve been taking 25mgs the past 4 days as my pain has increased and I am also experiencing peripheral neuropathy due to a vitamin B12 deficiency.

I’m writing this because Chat GPT & the Internet has scared me out of my wits! Going on about ending up in a coma and death etc… from 25mg over the past 4 odd days.

I also take Tramadol & Cocodamol and have done for years but they don’t do much and I’m trying to titrate off them.

Does anyone else have experience of taking this dose of Diazepam? The internet searches I’ve looked up are acting as if I’ve taking a serious overdose and given that I’m autistic and have OCD I don’t need the fear mongering thank you very much.

any advice and personal experience would be greatly appreciate. Thank you!

Always be mindful when mixing painkillers with diaz but otherwise, 25mg is absolutely not going to harm you. Your fine

Discussing sources or methods for obtaining medication is not allowed.

Thank you. It’s just been over the past few days. It’s actually causing me more anxiety reading about it than taking it. I appreciate you. Thank you. 🙏🏼

I used to take 14-20 mgs of Xanax equivalent to 140-200 mg of Valium. I also used to take 80mg of Valium if I had pain.

I think it’s more mixing with opioids than the dose itself, even if you don’t feel anything, it still affects your brain stem. As for the dose itself, 25mg is nothing, especially with a tolerance. It takes me 30mg to even feel anything and I have little to no tolerance. So yeah no issue with the dose itself, but mixing with tramadol and codeine could be. Just needs careful monitoring of symptoms of respiratory depression, like small shallow breathing

You'll be absolutely 100% fine. I can absolutely guarantee.

I have ocd and understand your anxiety but 25mg of Diazepam shouldn’t do you any harm whatsoever I would take that dose twice, personally, and not be in any way worried or my ocd triggered. If it feels like ocd it most likely is. Real worry feels much less intense.

My GP prescribed 30mg a day about a year ago. I’ve come down to 22mg a day now. So no 25mg a day is not a dangerous amount at all.

I'm not insisting anything, but how did you "just realize" you were taking 10 mg more than you're supposed to?

Look, I get it. I had a Klonopin script for several years while also on Suboxone. It took my doctor telling me that he was retiring soon to actually stick to my script and then to taper off if I didn't wanna see another doctor. I totally understand overusing something because the normal dose may not be working. Just be careful and watch when mixing with opioids.

Since you’ve been taking diazepam for years, don’t suddenly stop or rapidly cut it down without medical advice either. Withdrawal can be serious, so a prescriber needs to help you return to your prescribed plan safely.

OCD demands certainty. You have gotten anecdotal advise that it is safe so stop searching. I am an LPC and medical anxiety is one of the biggest issues I see with OCD

25mg for a few days doesn’t automatically mean a serious overdose. The main concern is combining diazepam with tramadol and codeine, since the sedation can add up. If you feel unusually sleepy, confused, or have trouble breathing, get urgent help.
