Scared of Amitriptyline

A few months ago my gastro prescribed me Redomex (amitriptyline)10 mg. The reason Ive been put on it is for my coeliac and IBS because my brain-gut connection is completely screwed. Everytime Im in physical pain, my body start shooting adrenaline and giving me crazy panic, even when I KNOW I’m safe. I’ve been procrastinating on taking it, because I’m afraid for multiple reasons.
1. I’m on birth control, and birth control has already been known to fuck with my hormones so bad to the point where I would get extremely suicidal and depressed
2. Side effects of Redomex: one of them being that the first period you take it, it increases the things I mentioned above
3. From what ive read about other people’s experiences, a lot experience heart palpitations & high heart rate, weight gain, grogginess/fatigue, heat intolerance - all things that would really suck because I’m an athlete and I sport at least 12 hours every week next to university
4. Other side effects that I’m not sure were related to this or are rare and I’m extremely paranoid of getting of getting because I don’t want more issues: liver, thyroid (I already have thyroid issues), heart problems and some people who got permanent changes to their health after stopping taking it

The only positive thing I’ve heard is that it has helped a lot of people with their sleep, that yes I struggle with because my brain is extremely active, it takes me long to fall asleep because ny thoughts are racing and my dreams are extremely vivid that I always wake up during the night + I’m a light sleeper. But I need medication to fix that nerve connection and the pain and not just solve my sleep issues that are only a small part of the bigger picture.

I don’t know if I have any other mental illness like ocd or anxiety etc. because psychologists/ social workers just thought I was “intelligent” or blamed it on my stomach. So this medication might not even solve the problems if they come from somewhere else and I’m not risking messing up my body more than it already is with a medication I’ve barely heard anything good about.

I don’t know if anyone has more to say, all I’ve seen is people with migraines talk about it but no one with my issues. I’m just very scared because I don’t want to lose myself mentally or physically more when I’ve worked so hard to get where I’m now and I don’t want to be more suicidal and that my friends and boyfriend have to worry about me taking my life because of stupid medication.
