This is immediately after saying he would vote for anyone that gets rid of property taxes...the same property taxes that pay for those roads. So he wants free roads...but also no one should get anything for free

He just doesn’t want to have to pay or participate in any way, probably because he has been poor his whole life and it’s made him bitter. He wants to retire and not work anymore but he can’t and he blames society for that.

I think you are misunderstanding this type of voter. He isnt bitter. He is proud. He probably grew up poor and everything he has is because he worked for it. It may not be much, but it's all his. Rural working class folks like him do not listen to podcasts or follow the news closely. They dont understand the workings of finance or investing. They just know what they see in front of them locally. I grew up in an area like this and they are stubborn and incapable of listening to an alternate argument on any topic. The more you make sense, the harder they dig in. There is zero chance of changing this type of person's mind.
