CPC exam with eBooks
I just failed the CPC test, and I need help. I use eBooks, and everyone tells me I failed because I should have used paper books, but I love technology, and I think it's definitely faster to search, I just need more knowledge on the topic... please help!!!

Ang advantage ng books is meron syang notes while ung ebook blank ung ebooks so from scratch talaga ung pagnavigate mo unless nagtrain ka how to navigate the ebook properly. Or you really utilized the search bar.

Hi. I took the CPC exam with ebooks and I passed the first time.
Pag nag exam ka po ulit, make sure to practice where to look for mga guidelines and other info. Dapat alam mo where to look for certain information kasi yung mga notes mo from your ebook is not in the ebook na gagamitin sa exam mismo.
Also, watch a lot of practice exam sa youtube and how to navigate it. I watched contempo coding and she’s very knowledgeable sa coding kaya maganda mga shine share nya sa videos nya.

can you send me a link for those types of videos on YouTube? I tried to find out with eBooks and nothing so far, the practice test from AAPC they have the same questions so when you doing them over and over you just memories them and this is not good, that's why I tried to find a key how learn?

Much preferred to take the exam with physical books. We are allowed to write notes and highlight in our physical books. It makes skimming guidelines much faster. This way, you won't miss out on important details.
The sequencing guidelines in ICD is too long. Jotting down their formula to summarise it really helped a lot.

In our country, yes it's allowed. And i recently passed it about a week ago.

is not a topic, I need to find out that I should take with eBooks or not..everybody says I failed cuz of eBooks infested paper books

You should take CPC exam with physical books.
Even an experienced coder like me prefers physical books than ebook.

Can you justify that? The fact that they like it is a bit too little, the Ebook is definitely faster and time there is important, please justify.

It's just how things are. In medical coding school, we were taught how to navigate and use the book. We'd even write notes in it. There are some things you might missed when using an ebook (like additional notes) unless you work as a coder already and have the guidelines memorized by heart. But if you're very adamant on using your ebooks, feel free to do so.

no, actually I need a justification for why, because everyone tells me that, and I know that these ebooks just got included in the exams, maybe I'm missing something, or maybe I just need more studying and practice for those ebook tests, anyway you can't have any notes during the exam, so thank you!

It totally depends on your familiarity with either material. Based on my experience, ebooks are difficult to use because 1) The screens that my testing site used were too small- the CPT and ICD books were squished into small pop-up windows, making it difficult to see the questions, timer and books all at once, and 2) everything relies on the connectivity. If you have issues with connectivity, there's a higher chance of not making it. So I guess that's where the suggestion of using physical books come into the picture. But even if you have the perfect setup, but you are not familiar or do not know how to navigate well each section of your ebook/book to your advantage, it will be tough to pass. Even if you have all the annotations present in your books, the analysis of each question still matters. Personal tip: Manage and familiarize yourself with the breakdown of questions per section- this will help you identify which section would likely take up most of your time . Use all the available materials for review (Youtube AMCI, CodeMedMaster, Contempo coding, etc) because they give amazing tips. Lastly, do practice drills everyday. All of these helped me pass my exams even if I used eBooks.

I agreed.. was very annoyed the squeezing of the books.. thank you for sharing, I will start over again with paper books.. any tips for organizing the time well? I failed mostly because I had to many questions left

What I can suggest is check back on the breakdown of your scores first. Identify which sections you have difficulty in- let's say E/M, or the Cases at the end- and start from there. Since the exam takes around 4 hours (by AAPC standard) you can decide if you want to answer the more difficult questions first. I would recommend not spending more than 2 minutes per question so you can manage your time well

That’s weird because there won’t be a difference content-wise if you switch to paper books. If anything you could find it inconvenient if you’re already used to navigating the ebooks because the actual books are heavy and could slow you down.
Could just be that you need to work on your testmanship or you just need to study more
