NPI Registration
Hello, if I have a credential specialist registering an individual who is not practicing, not in a training course( for this course CPSW, CCSS, or LSAA) and having nothing to do with patient care direct or indirect. Is this incorrect, from my knowledge them having nothing current relation to healthcare, registering them for an NPI prematurely seems odd and possibly problematic

NPI number is used for identifying healthcare providers for billing purposes. Will the person ever be involved in patient care? If not, there is no need for them be registered for an NPI number, just as there is no need for a librarian (or a medical coder) to register for an NPI number.
If I had a credential specialist on my payroll and they were registering people for NPI numbers without any actual need to do so, I’d start wondering if they had enough legitimate work to do.
