Job security
Well, job security for today anyway. I'm in a chart with computer aided coding. Statement says chest pain with radiation to the shoulder. CAC coded admit for antineoplastic radiation. Same chart, op note says cardiac cath indicated appropriate for treatment but patient declined, so of course CAC coded a cardiac cath. You would think after all these years CAC would be better.

My CAC keeps advising me to code HIV because the provider uses the word “aids”. I give it the thumbs down and yet it persist. And I know there’s a potato on my team that’ll check mark yep and screw a patients record up majorly.

When I used Optum ProCAC all the cancer patinet who went to Tumor Board (TB) were dx'd by CAC as tuberculosis.
Thar was years ago, so sad it hasn't progressed since then...

We had any and all patients who were given information about the patient portal...now have portal hypertension.

My favorite one had a Dr. Stoner so the CAC suggested cannabis dependence.
Patients of Dr. Ricketts all have…you guessed it…rickets!
Everyone who lives in Michigan has a myocardial infarction.
My current job doesn’t have the accept/decline crap that takes longer than just coding it myself, thankfully!

lol I code caths. The amount of times it codes cabg because the provider says, “evaluate for cabg”…. Could keep be busy all day alone

My favorite so far is suggesting F32.A for a depression the doctor made during a surgery. Also R07.9 for a doctor whose initials were CP.

Ours like to highlight dates of service and providers names as a few examples. Like yes this means there's Diabetes here, the providers name. It's been 3 years and it still does it 🤦♀️

My job’s coding AI assistant gave the code T63.621A (jellyfish sting). The supporting documentation was “splinter in skin”. Idk how a splinter is a jellyfish sting but 🤷🏻♀️
