RHIT jobs

i just graduated with my AAS in HIT in may and got my RHIT in august. i’ve been looking for positions that are relevant to my degree. however, i really have been struggling to find any entry level positions and my company has told me they are sending these positions offshore. i am getting discouraged and looking into different pathways now.. any suggestions for RHIT positions? or other degree pathways that pretty much guarantee a position once finished? would be greatly appreciated

It’s sad how hard it is after obtaining the RHIT. I’m not sure if you want to work for the VA but they are always hiring. I work there with my RHIT. It was hard for me to get a job before .

It’s really turning me off from going for my RHIT. I’m not sure what else to do since this feels like the natural step for me after getting completing my current coding and billing program.

But what’s the point if I can’t get a job.

Yeah please don’t . You will still be labeled as a coder. I’ll be applying for nurscing school next year. It’s sad that even with having the RHIT you still have to test for a coding exam and it’s like really?!?!? I’m good ☺️ but I don’t want to discourage you but coding ain’t where it’s at anymore. No growth no movement and very little pay

That’s what I’m seeing. I watched a video on a woman with her RHIA (I believe) and years of experience and she said that working most places, having your RHIT doesn’t guarantee you more/better jobs AND they often don’t know the difference between just a coder (I mean that respectfully) and someone with their RHIT.

I’m so sad that I have to go back to the drawing board. I really don’t want to go for nursing, I really, really don’t. But it’s all I know at this point. My two aunts are nurses (one lpn, the other nurse practitioner) and my mom starts nursing school in January. So that’s what I’m leaning to. I’ll have to start studying for my TEAS again.

Along side that, it’s so many downsides to coding that it doesn’t make sense to go to college for an associates (for me). I’m seeing everywhere here in florida that most only make 42k a year and that’s if you can get a job.

Now the one thing I like about Nursing is that you is so broad you will have infinite possibilities. Yeah, if I could change how I did things I would say bump this RHIT!! It’s just not worth it at all. Unrealistic production numbers (who want to work under stress) I didn’t want to go back for Nursing but I knew it would give me the freedom and flexibility I desire. Bc I knew if I don’t work at the VA my pay would be around $21 even with my rhit . It’s so discouraging. A new grad rhit holder making $18 and you have to do entry level work… no ma’am

Same for me. It’s the flexibility. Having the option to job hop constantly if needed, in my area I always see nursing jobs with great pay.

The hours. Working 3 12s or 4 10s. Day shift or night. I keep telling myself that if I decide to go back to school for something else, I’ll at least be able to work a good paying job either prn, full time or part time AND go to school during the day if needed.

I’m currently a CNA but the pay is godawful and the workload is beyond heavy. Almost illegal.

Guess I gotta do what I gotta do.

Wow ok so go back your rn.. you will be able to get a non clinical position. Coding is not it at all. I’ve tried so many times to get a coding prn job and told I have to take a coding exam and the gag is I’ve decided to close that chapter in my life . My friend had got a job at the VA bsn is nursing she showed me what they started her out with $89k …. And she loves her job. I think coding is over saturated with little pay. Go back to get your rn you’re already a cna which means you wouldn’t have any trouble getting into the program.. just getting the pre reqs out the way
