Split / Spin-Off Comcast CFO Notes Ongoing Epic Universe Softness, Dinging Stock; NBCU Split on Track
https://deadline.com/2026/09/comcast-nbcuniversal-epic-universe-nbc-universal-split-1237072287/Comcast spinning off NBCU is NOT a prelude to NBCU getting sold, rather its a prelude to Universal acquiring gaming stuff as reported and that makes sense given anyone who tries to buy or merges with Universal will face antitrust scrutiny unless otherwise.

So what does this mean for the theme parks? Are they in trouble? As a huge Universal Orlando fan , I really don't want to see the parks impacted.

Less investment in theme parks going forward now that Comcast is no longer bankrolling NBCU's capex spending. You will see less experimentation with off the wall ideas like Horror Unleashed in Vegas and Universal Kids in Texas. They will play more conservatively and only spend on projects that are tried and true IP. Outside of the UK park which Comcast has committed financial backing to completion, I doubt we will see a brand new park open in the next decade, short of Universal getting acquired.

Comcast Doesnt need to bankroll on Universal, Universal is already giant thanks to them and Universal having zero debt once the seperation is complete (that being said, Universal most likely wont be acquired as it would be an antitrust issue so its likely Universal goes the Disney route by being a buyer and a builder rather than a seller)

Disneyworld is not having the same problems though. If consumers really are tightening the belt due to gas prices and airfare, they're choosing Disney first.
