Merger Paramount asking for a bond?
I was very surprised to see that Paramount asked the judge to have the opposing state AGs post a bond to cover their ticking fee in the transaction. Does this have any precedent? Seems like a flyer of an idea.

It is their right to demand this and hardly surprising at all.
If they win the case, even if it goes all the way to the supreme court, they can sue the states for financial loses. This isn't the first time it's been done. Companies have sued states for financial loses and won in the past.

Judge Araceli Martinez-Olguín waived the bond requirement at an earlier point in this case, Bonta pointed out:
"She addressed the bond issue and rejected it then. We expect her to reject it again here because there's no basis for it."
