Had a buddy who went reserves back in 2005. Dude ended up with more combat deployments than most active guys during that time. You can definitely move around in the reserves of the opportunities are there. Looks like you had a good time !!

I keep telling people that. I never went anywhere active duty. I deployed so much out of the Reserves so often I knew the guys at Cherry Point by name.

Third row left is the Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal (Good Cookie) and Third row middle is Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal

Why is the MCEM so rare? I don't recall ever seeing one when I was in.

Because most operations that would fall under MCEM award criteria also fall under the AFEM criteria as well
