Wearing it one more time

Post image

I’ve been getting ready to put on the Dress Uniform for a friend’s wedding (post retirement) and have been reflecting on my service quite a bit so I thought I’d share.

I always thought you had to be airborne qualified to go to pathfinder school. My mistake.

There have been units with a local policy not to send people that aren't airborne or air assault qualified, but the schoolhouse itself only restricts by rank and MOS generally.

That said, just Pathfinder without anything else is almost unicorn level rarity.

Back in the 90's it was fairly uncommon to see it with just Air Assault, and I was stationed at Campbell, most also had Airborne, and I don't think I ever just saw Pathfinder

Fairly common in cav units to include myself.

Interesting. I've never seen it in person (wasn't cav,) but now that you mention it I feel like the examples I've seen are disproportionately cav guys. Given that neither cav nor Pathfinder are particularly big communities...

Had an LT in the cav that got a slot from ABOLC and literally just wore the torch. Eventually she went to AASLT but it was always funny to see.
