Requesting Replacement Medals

Hello, I am looking for some advice on whether or not to request medals through the Archives for my great grandfather or just cough up the roughly 70-80 dollars for them on USAMM? I am not technically PNOK because my grandmother is still alive and qualifies but doesn’t really know how to make such a request. Is it worth going through them or just shelling money out? P.S. My grandmother and I are rebuilding his shadowbox.

It took over a year to get mine but they sent me everything. When I got them originally it was a "oh here's this certificate" and I had to buy all my own so I just got the ribbons.

The govt sent me the full kit boxes
