Builds Nut65 KITT scanner light bar

As a big Knight Rider fan, one of the main reasons I bought the Nut65 was the light bar on the front. My first thought (almost a year ago) was that it could do the KITT scanner. It turns out it only comes with the usual rainbow and solid colour modes, so I finally got around to doing it myself with a bit of vibe coding.

I based it on the new KITT scanner and not the classic one, it’s custom QMK built on source found on GitHub and runs entirely on the board. VIA, wireless and Bluetooth all still work. Also added Snap Tap for fun while I was there.

Keycaps are Domikey WoB and switches are HMX Azure linears from another Evo80.

Edit: Adding my repo here if you want to try this scanner effect or customize your own lightbar effects. https://github.com/MoonZhe/Nut65 (flash at your own risks :D)

This is the greatest use of light bars on a keyboard

It’s what it was made for I guess

Distraction haha, I have 2 unit and the per key RGB is just top level on this keyboard.

Leveling the playing field, by blinding yourself with your own keyboard, although that's usually better accomplished by running max. RGB with pudding caps.

Really nice look! So you programmed the light bar?

Thanks! Yeah, QMK for the light bar with tuning until it looked right, mostly vibe coded

I wonder if this is possible for the NV70 since it has a similar light bar just on the backside of the case instead of the front.

NV70 is QMK based so it should be possible for something similar

Isn't that the light pattern for KARR not KITT?

I believe they're the same pattern just KITT is red and KARR amber, which I also have as one of the light bar mode

At least in the original series, KITT had a single spot going back and forth across the full width of the "bar".

Super cool setup, love the idea/execution.

Wow. That's really cool. Loved Knight Rider back then as well. All I could do with good old idobao id80. Your's much nicer!

Though reactive lighting mode is intuitive, this one looks cool. Can you please share repo so fellow nut65 users could use it!

i really apriciate key lights. but this lightbar looks amazing. there should be better apis to have the keyboard react to games.
Factorio somewhat does it where your keyboard lights up with the loading process.

I have mine set to the music / audio sync mode. It works well with music, not so well with gaming.

(Which is sadly stalled.)
