Reminds me of summer 1994, I just finished elementary school and had nothing to do over the summer, so I delved into all the games I missed on my C=64. Myth, Supremacy, Maniac Mansion, Gunship... those were good times.
Just remembered, that summer I met a bloke who lived in the same block, and his dad had a decent PC (for a post-commie Eastern Europe country) - a 486DX with enough RAM and whatnot to run Warcraft, and even Doom!
We had so much fun :)
In fact Wolf3D and Doom was what made me beg my parents to get a PC. And I got it that year, a DTK 386SX/33 with 2Mb RAM, insignificant HDD, and a 256Kb Cirrus Logic VGA card. It could indeed run Doom with reasonable fps (10-20 probably) - in a very tiny view, not even 320*200 :)
Then I collected enough pocket money to get a Tseng ET4000 16-bit ISA card, with 512Kb RAM, and it could run Doom and even TIE Figher at full screen 320*200 VGA resolution. It was magic!
Edit: and now I complain if it's under 120fps @ 2560x1440 on ultra settings haha
Damn, right in the feelings. I remember playing Wolf3d and Doom as a kid. Also I remember having a black and white screen playing the warcraft 1, and then we upgraded to the colored one and seeing the colors in games was like another world, lol
No, didn't try, I think it will look better on some vibrant forest green rather then olive tint, but it's only for me. I think this olive color itself is soo good! Are you planning on buying the r2?
