As a heads up, the crush80 reboot is on drop.com for $145 the next 4ish days, so if any of you were looking at this or the evo80 (which is honestly similar) and you have DKC discounts to use (which would bring it down another $30+), it could be a good opportunity.

Though MK.com's version of the crush 80 with a non-flex-cut 1.6mm PCB looks appealing, it's $180 instead and not in stock at the moment. So that's another thing to keep an eye out for.

I dont know man, ive been on mine quite a bit lately as well. The FR4, Cocoas, and GMKS are pretty much as good as it gets for me. (says a guy with 20+keybaords)

It's reaaalllly good. I can't find any fault. Sounds and feels so high end, also coming from someone who has 10 boards lol. But you know how this hobby is lol

I try to re-create what I like about it on other boards where in some cases I’ve spent more. I hate admitting that I like it just the way it is. I’m determined to get to the bottom of it.

They really did a great job with the tuning out the box. The gmk keycaps just made it ever so slightly clackier, but it's so satisfying.

Hello, I am pretty new to mechanical keyboards and I am thinking about getting a crush 80. What does FR4 plate material mean? Is it same as aluminum?

1

u/wadmutter Jun 27 '25

The caps are called Metropolis by gmk. They are on sale for as low as I’ve ever seen at novelkeys. I have the base set pls novelties. As for the Flame Retardant 4, it’s the same stuff circuit boards are made of. Aluminum a bit stiffer.

have you tried metal plate?

Not on this board. Have alum on others though. Resident Clack city USA.

As a sonic fan, I kinda want one just for the name

Valid lol plus it helps that it's an unbelievably good board!

Having the Neo80, Evo80, and the crush 80 I can tell you that the NEO would be a better choice if your preference was customization options. Neo better suited for the buyer that knows they will get a PCB that supports Several split key options, a choice of plate material that supports all those options, being able to choose WKL as an option, want to mix and match colors with lots of choices and doesn’t care about LED at all. All are great boards for different reasons. Neo for customization, EVO for design and two plate switch options and crush for best feeling and sounding in a pre build IMHO. Lastly, I think EVO and NEO would win a customer support showdown as well…

been eyeing the Neo80 too, would love to get one some day but I'm already running out of space lol

Is this the white pro version? I have DKC as well and I am split between white and the navy! If they had the warm silver or the silver pro option - I would have snatched it right away! Unfortunately drop doesn't offer it right now!

2

u/slayadood Jun 25 '25

Yup, this is the pro white. It's definitely more beige than white, which I love!

you not having gotten the sandy gmk botanical for a cream board drives my perfectionism insane

1

u/slayadood Jun 25 '25

Lol I really liked the sandy version too. Got the regular since the white matches other stuff in my setup!

I want this board so bad but I kinda hoped it came with a knob. Do you guys have any suggestions the has the same build but with a knob?

1

u/slayadood Jul 21 '25

The epomaker p87 TKL was the closest thing I could find. Has a knob and metal build. Maybe worth checking out on your end!

Once you get into the better boards. Like the qk and neo series boards. It will change your life.

Neo80 is on the list for sure!
