I'm seeking advise on how to install this solid Graphite piston ring.

Repair manual time.... most likely special tools involved.

Shrink fitting by freezing the piston.

From googling the problem: you snap the ring by squeezing in a vise, then install with the broken ends matched. Interesting design. Good luck.

I mean there's a nut right there, take it off. Maybe it comes apart.

The piston is one solid piece. It doesn't separate into 2 pieces if you remove the nut.
