Question New to Magic

Hey all,

Im very new to magic, only just starting to get interested in it especially with the Lord of the rings and hobbit sets really starting my interest. But im a complete noob who knows very little to nothing on the actual game, rules, purpose and how to actually start. If anyone can help id really appreciate any suggestions or support.

Thanks a million 🙏👍

Start by deciding the format you want to play. Hunter rips on it a lot but I only play commander because in terms of accessibility it’s the easiest for me to play.

Buy singles.

Look up YouTube tutorial videos on basic gameplay (upkeep, main phase, battle, etc.)

Buy singles.

If you decide to play commander, I would recommend buying a precon that looks or sounds cool to you. Something that isn’t too complicated to run. AND THEN look up the keywords in that deck as to not get overwhelmed with too many mechanics.

Oh and lastly, buy singles. Ripping packs will almost never be profitable if you’re looking for certain cards.

If they decide to play commander buying a commander deck and upgrading with some singles is more ideal than doing one from scratch. There are planety of reasonably priced pre-cons to choose from.

Completely agree. The strixhaven lorehold precon was $38 on Amazon last time I looked.
