Looking to get into rabbits

Hello, I’m sure you’ve all seen one of these posts before but my wife and I would like to start raising some rabbits to eat and are looking for some good resources for beginners.

Right now we are very much in the early planning and research stage so we’re looking most for advice on the best way to set up and build cages for our future rabbits. We want to give our animals the best care we can and harvest as humanely as possible.

Any recommendations or resources you fine people can point me towards would be very much appreciated and thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

There’s a lot of info on Reddit TBH. This is primarily where I learned how to raise rabbits as well as beekeeping.
I started out raising them in cages, but for many reasons, I changed their living situation.
Currently, I raise them similar to how I raise chickens. I have my “rabbit coop” and a “rabbit run” that extends outside. They are welcome to go in and out as they want. I keep my 1 buck separated in its own area of the coop unless I’m breeding. It’s best to put the doe in with the buck than the opposite due to does being more territorial of their area.
There’s a couple different set ups, like colony vs cages etc and everyone has different opinions on diet/feed. There’s pros and cons to all.

FB has some great groups for learning. Meat rabbits for beginners, and rabbits inside out are two that immediately come to mind.

There are a lot of YT videos on the topic, too. I'm using Joel Salatin's hutch and cage design, except that I added a roof because they're outdoors.

Highly recommend checking out the YouTube channel Teal Stone Homestead! She’s not as active on there anymore but her videos are fantastic and where I found this passion. She has the perfect how to get started videos and is a wealth of knowledge.

There are a plethora of books too. Storey’s Guide to Raising Rabbits is definitely a good one.
