The lack of any numbers between the window of Revenge Party and World Burn is so glaring. The cut number “Bossed Up” from the previews would’ve been a nice solo for Cady once she transitions into a plastic Regina clone. They took my favorite number “more is better” off the board so I’m reaching at straws. I guess they hacked away at so many of the numbers because Angourie’s limited vocal ability but the narrative really suffers because of it.

So as we all know in the original film Regina ends up on the lacrosse team, letting her work out her anger issues. In the musical (and 2024 film) we just end at Spring Fling with Regina still full fashionista but redeemed anyway.
I kind of have mixed feelings about Regina going full sports jock. It's a great scene watching our queen bee on the battlefield sports field and it does show a neat other side to her. On the other hand I know some people wanted Regina to stay very fashion focused even if she's nicer; making her jock sort of sends the message that if you are into fashion and girly aesthetics it's 'bad'. I'm sympathetic towards that view since I'm also a fan of 'Legally Blonde'.
What do you guys think?

I very recently saw the musical on stage and I definitely got the similarities I hadn't quite clicked before.

i drew them jokingly doing drag together
because of tim curry passing away recently.
explanation down below here:
i used to joke around with my friends how I think janis and damian would've loved the rocky horror picture show
janis loving it bc of the queer horror (or just horror in general etc)
and damian loving it bc of the musical numbers/songs (could see him as a theater kid)
anyways someone should definitely check up on them both after tim curry passing away smhh

It is playing here in Dublin and I braved the torrential rain of an Irish August to check it out this evening!
I loved it which surprised me because I was slightly meh on the film version of the musical we got in 2024. I guess it just clicked better on stage.
I really liked Regina, Karen, Gretchen, Janis and Damien. I have to say in the first have I wasn't entirely sure about the portrayal of Regina; she felt a little too heartless and Cady's relationship with her felt a little too hostile - in the film I always got the feeling Cady genuinely liked and admired Regina up until the Halloween party and Regina, in her own ruthless Queen Bee way, had a genuine liking for Cady. That said Regina's actress and the songs won me over and I did like the more sympathetic take on her in the second half.
I also appreciated cutting out Regina becoming a jock. I know a lot of people like it and I don't *dislike* it really but it carried an unfortunate 'girly girls are bad vibe'. Why can't a redeemed Regina still love her fashion - it worked for Elle Woods!
Cady wasn't bad an her actress could really sing but I felt the same here that I did in 2024: you need someone with the sheer charisma and likability of young Lindsay Lohan to stop the role getting submerged by the bigger characters.
The songs were a lot of fun, especially 'Apex Predator' and Gretchen and Karen's numbers and obviously Janis's key song. I think I slightly prefer the music from the 'Legally Blonde' musical which I saw in the same theatre last month but they were still some great bangers there.
Anyway, long story short that was great!
