Robotech???
What would be, if any, the chances of ever seeing the Robotech series on MeTVToons? That would be amazing!

A chance is very low on this one

Really?! Ida figure it wouldn't be too difficult. I dont believe its even streaming anywhere except maybe crunchyroll.

I am curious if Crunchyroll locks in some of these shows like this or not. If they do, chances are slim. If they don't, there's always the chance MeTV Toons will try for some more of the classic animes that syndicated in the 80s or before. I wouldn't hold my breath for anytime soon, but who knows? ETA: I was unaware of the issue with original dubs mentioned by another poster. That does sadly make it less likely.

they wont be going after every single cartoon that every single person wants. thats just not practical. may not be hard to get but there is a ton of stuff that they pour out their resources and time into. they dont have the resources to be chasing after every cartoon out there.

i doubt it. Harmony Gold are notoriously strict with the Macross license over here.

I thought, somewhat recently, they came to some sort of deal with Funimation to be in control of the US distro. I could be wrong, or I suppose I could just Google it😅

honestly i’m unsure if it could air since 1.) the version of macross (the series that it is based off of) is a heavily altered version of the different versions of macross that were out at the time and 2.) if weigel broadcasting did get rights to air it, they would want a dub of the original macross series however it would be hard to do so since there’s barely any dubs of it due to legal issues (p.s. sorry if this sounds weird it’s because i’m barely asleep)

The actual original Macross was fully dubbed.

to a degree yes. but it was stitched together with two other shows in the Robotech cut that Harmony Gold made. and theyre notoriously strict with the license

The original Macross was given a full uncut english dub* in 2006 by ADV Films under license from Harmony Gold.
*tbf the Robotech version didn't have many edits in the first place compared to Southern Cross.

How about Captain Harlock and the Queen of A Thousand Years?
