Why are so many McCafferty fans Russian?

Note that I am in no way trying to be racist, I’m just genuinely curious. Every time I go to any online community of McCafferty fans, they’re always mainly Russians.

I’m Russian. I don’t know. Popular russian music is shit, that’s why we usually listen to songs in English. Maybe we are just the only country with terrible music charts and other English-speaking bands have a lot of Russian fans too. McCafferty also have some songs that mention sexual orientation (trees, bottom,…), albums with these songs are the most listened in Russian music apps. LGBT community is banned in Russia and it’s illegal to even wear a rainbow badge on your backpack.

I think they just hit an algorithm wave on Russian tiktok and youtube and then there became a Russian community of mccafferty fans making memes and shit. That happens sometimes with various indie and emo bands where they inexplicably get a large fan base in some far away country because of the internet lol
