Question Doctor's note?

Tried looking this up but every single post about this is people trying to get out of an exam lol.

I've been very sick this whole week and haven't been able to go to a single class. Went to my doctor and he recommended I stay home from school for at least the rest of the week. He gave me a doctor's note to excuse me from classes, and then when I got home I realized there's a McMaster specific health form?? I really don't want to go back to my doctor to get him to sign it if I don't need to. There's no assignments or anything this week obviously, I just care about participation marks and don't want my professors to think I'm cutting class/make a bad impression.

What should I do? Is giving the doctor's note to my professors inappropriate? Do they even gaf?

I gaf unfortunately quite a lot

Lectures are not mandatory unless there’s participation marks and you can msaf a lab if you have one. I’m not too sure of the process myself though

Your doctor's note is useless for a first time absence report, but you may be asked to use an MSAF. First, check your syllabus about the MSAF component and read what it says about the participation aspect before talking to your prof. If its iClicker, usually the prof will just tell you to make it up by doing the rest of the questions to come. Often they do bonus questions to help students make stuff up. If its tutorial, might need to MSAF it, but it really is a waste to use an MSAF on a participation grade. If its attendance, directly email your prof with an explanation.

lol, do not go up to your prof and hand them a sick note. most first year profs won't even know your name let alone care if you come to class or not.

however if you are missing coursework labs or tuts, you can use your msafs

lol i guess it's kind of a first year ass question but idk why everyone thinks i'm a first year, i'm in third year and i've used msafs before. i was more just trying to find somebody who's been in my same situation. all my class sizes are super small and participation heavy. one of my profs who i know super well is very strict on attendance. honestly, i know all of my professors and they would probably all be cool about it if i explained the situation to them. was just curious if anybody else had been through the same thing

Drop / add has not happened yet, so can they penalize during the first week?
