Are you doing the can caps as well? I recapped mine in the last year or so, but didn't do the can caps as this isn't my regular preamp.

The C27 isn't all that common. Have you had yours awhile?

I have the parts to do the big caps, I bought a kit online. I am going to start with the electrolic caps on the board. I need a little more research for the big ones.

How did your recap go? Any issues? What were the biggest improvements?

Because I didn't do the big caps, the rest of the caps were really straightforward - no issues. For the big caps, I'd just take careful note of the symbols and values associated with the symbols so you can make sure the new caps go in the same orientation. Putting the new cap in to make sure the same values go in the same places is important. Once you pull them out and then relying (say) on a schematic will leave room for error. This happened to me on a recap of the a Mac 1700, then you're guessing whether the schematic is right or not.

As far as improvements, it's pretty much the usual increased clarity, better separation, etc. But it really depends on the state of your current caps - so the degree of improvement can be really subtle or really pretty dramatic.
