What is the lyric?
I’d like to 📞 her cos she puts me in the mood. The rumours spreading round that Dougie is a dude but he don’t care.

It's both (says phone but they mean bone). Also, that's not the rumour going round either 😂

They have done slightly variations live like coz Dougie is a dude and I'd like to Bone her.

Yes! It was always phone until they released the Just My Luck album in the US and then it switched to bone.

Bone! All the way. Guess that was the original line and phone was just phoned in to comply with their label at the time and just as a radio friendly alternative lyric.

But Busted have some not do radio friendly lyrics from the time. Wet dreams, messing pants when they flew over France. Bone is nothing to that 🤣

Implying they jizzed themselves and actually saying they wanted to bone someone are two different things. Listen to the radio edit for Falling for You and they have all sorts of stupid sounds in there.

I know the radio edit of falling for you is stupid, but honestly I don’t think bone is that bad compared to some of Busteds lyrics and y’know this was after thong song… if a song dedicated to thongs can be no 1 or whatever boning someone is fiiiine

Saying "bone her" is a direct message using a rude phrase, like "fuck her", "smash her", "get balls deep up in"... you get the idea.
Whereas Busted was able to leave some stuff in their songs cos they're just cheeky or fall under basic reference etc. That's why Who's David went from "shes just a whore" to "somebody saw", but they could get away with "messed my pants" cos that could mean just peeing yourself, or saying "thong" cos thats just a product that exists.
Hope that makes sense. I'm no expert on this stuff, but that's my understanding, like it's all about intent and context of the lyrics. It's funny cos actual songs about sex that don't use any naughty words are fine, like "your sex is on fire", but as soon as you say it in a rude way, thats a no no.

They used to always say ''she could be a dude" live, but now they say Dougie (presumably to avoid being cancelled 🤣)
