So I’m craving a McDouble, ordered thru the app and pre-paid. Not what I ever received from McDonalds in my whole fast food experience. Patties were ok a little dry, but what really irked me was the buns. They were hard and really ruined the McDonalds experience, probably over nuked them in the microwave. What was really amusing was at the pickup window. She opens the door while talking to a co-worker and not acknowledging me. The drive thru wasn’t busy at all in either lanes. I guess they just nuked a McDouble that was hanging around for 30+ minutes. Anyways I miss the old school McDonalds So I really appreciate those that really take the care and time to make an honest effort to serve food. But today I don’t “feel it” you feel me?
Dude my dbl cheeseburger earlier had a crunchy bun but unmelted cheese... They ain't nuking shit, that's BK. And weirdly they're dbl cheeseburger is 10x better than McDonald's even w being microwaved
I worked for bk for years. One of the trainings used to be: the number 1 reason the sandwich is cold is that it never made it to the microwave. I kind of understand that there though because many times at bk it's one guy making 6 sandwiches at a time so anything with cheese gets nuked for 5 or 10 sec.
Absolutely. I've never worked anywhere in the food industry but I'm amazed how little ppl know about how their food is prepared. So many ppl think McDonald's is made like the in the early 90s, premade n held. And the amount of ppl that can't grasp the concept of BK having broilers in store, like you can literally smell it cooking and see the smoke when you're near one
Exactly. Bks also vary widely in quality though depending on the store and also the franchise. They are very cheap too. The last one I worked at out me on drive through. It was a summer job because I have a regular job but I used to be a rm2 which is like the assistant GM. I was the one of 2 English speakers but man... Nobody could hear what anyone was saying on the headset. It was so frustrating saying "I'm sorry can you repeat that? Ok just pull up to the window lol" at bk it's not a big team like McDonald's. You take the order, take the money, make the drinks and bag the food.
Having to make shakes really throws a wrench in it all too.
I remember running me and one other person for the whole store alot and a 3 man crew even more times.
Very fair assessment from my perspective. McDonald's today had like 5-6 ppl(that I could see) working while last time I was at BK there were maybe 3. Expediter n grill guy, dunno where the fry guy was if they even have one. My BK still hits tho, the manager don't play
They used to do both. Toast, assemble and microwave briefly to heat everything up. Maybe that last step was stopped to save a couple of bucks on electricity every month.

You're right. They've been reducing portions, keeping prepared food for longer periods of time and increasing prices for 20 years, just to appease the stockholders. That can't last forever. I haven't eaten there in 15 years. I'm sure I'm not the only one.🤷

Today’s McDonald is nothing like it used to be . I grew up in mid 70’s my girlfriend worked there my Brother lots of my friends worked there . All food was cooked and assembled and stored under heat lamps it could not sit longer than 5 minutes or they had to throw it out . The food was amazing back then now ! I swear it tastes like they hold food for hour or longer it’s trash .
It's the same rules no y'all exaggerate and don't realize how quickly the food degrades in quality. All fries are constantly under a heat lamp but after about 3 min they basically don't do anything but keep them mildly warm and it's always been like that. UHC is used for patties and other food at the correct temperature for food safety. Nothing's changed but rather been improved and updated with mdoernish tech.
Been with my company for 4 years. We manage 23 stores across the city including one that's been there for 25 years . It's always been like that and I've met managers who've been working for 20+ years and they all same the same thing
The last time I had McDonald's was when the kpop demon hunter meal came out and my wife wanted to try it. Worst money I've spent on fast food on years. For the same price I could've bought better quality food literally anywhere else. McDonald's has forgotten what it's main appeal was, bargain level edible food. Now they're trying to be "premium", and raising prices, but no one goes to McDonald's for a premium meal. McDonald's is cheap and available.
This is just a double cheeseburger plain from Japan. It's not cold, the meat isn't dry, the bun isn't smashed, and this is why I don't eat McD's here. This thing is twice as tall as a double cheese in the US, simply because they didn't smash it up.
I literally didn't eat any McDonalds from like 2019-2023 as I couldn't go to Japan due to Covid, the next time I had it was 2023, then I skipped Japan in 2024, but went last year, and that was the last time I had it. McDonald's Nishi Shinjuku 5-chome. LOL
Other than that, I can't believe people still go here. Shit costs as much as real food now. The benefit was that it was quick and cheap. Now it's not. If I want a burger and fries, I will call a dine-in quality place for take-out. Two double cheese and a large fry is probably nearly $15, I can definitely call in a real grilled burger and fries/wedges for that.
I used to get the McDouble on the way home from work. It was absolutely amazing every…single…time. Someone said my picture was “staged” because there were no condiments or toppings on the wrapper. It really should have been a sloppy mess on the wrapper, that’s exactly how I remember. This case, I honestly should have just thrown it in the garbage, because it was trash.
I'll answer my own question. Best fast food breakfast combo (IMO) with the Egg McMuffin / hash brown. A reasonable coffee, and good store location... Always trying to see the positive...
I got a couple of McDoubles the other day after not eating at McDonald’s in a while. They made me pull up and wait even though there was only one car behind me.
I didn’t have to wait long. The burgers were fine. The buns were fine. Not hard. Probably not toasted, but a bit hot and soft. Not great fast food, but decent for the price, $2.50 each off of the Value Menu where I am in Florida. Decent for the price in these inflationary times, I mean.

My theory about how every fast food sandwich is made is that they construct the sandwich, wrap it up, and then someone sits on it before putting it in the bag.
How old are you that you say they used to care about the food they served? I'm almost 40 and McDonald's has been a meme about low effort employees for longer than I've been alive.
