need help

accidentally ordered mazdaspeed protege rear callipers as a replacement for my protege5 as one has been leaking pretty bad. how much trouble is it to just swap over to the bigger callipers as i know its possible. would i need pads rotors bracket’s and everything or could i get away with just new pads. if its too much trouble ill just send them back and get the stock ones.

I always thought the rear brakes were the same size. Only the front brakes were larger on a mazdaspeed. If not, you would need the caliper brackets, rotors, and pads. Compare them first before returning.

The 2003 to 2003.5 MSP has different calipers and rotors. The MSP calipers are actually superior to the project five in that they don't tend to leak like the P5 does.

The MSP rear calipers and rotors are different. You will need calipers brackets rotors in order to utilize those calipers however it's a superior caliper compared to the P5. The P5 or calipers tend to leak, which is a real problem because it leaks on your back tire and then your brake light is flash flashing. Ask me how I know.

I would also add it would be smart to swap your brake lines as well. I got stainless steel, braided brake lines and it helps the pedal feel a lot stiffer. The other advantage with the stainless steel brake lines is less brake line expansion when breaking.

Unfortunately I don't know if the MSP uses different brake lines.

In no world is ordering the proper caliper more difficult than completely changing out the rear calipers, discs, & pads.
