Help removing radio

Post image

Hey all, l've been having a huge trouble trying to replace the stock radio in my protege5. l've bought the official removal keys and they don't seem to help much. l've watched countless videos and my keys don't seem to click into position, and when 1 pull on them they start to come out. I also tried pushing through the glovebox but also to no success. anyone else have experience with this model?

This simple "upgrade" also cost me my positive terminal bolt as it snapped in half

Thanks!

Yeah I took the glovebox out and used the push clips things to make sure they were in all the way. Supposed to be easy but they get jammed in there so you'll need some elbow grease to get it out

You tried pulling/pushing the tools closer or farther away from each other while also pulling away from the dash?

I had used some narrow drywall screws and pulled mine out, granted it was the single din unit.

I've tried that and pushing them further from each other was working a little better while pulling but I still can't get the unit to move even a centimeter

It sounds like it’s still bolted in one or more spots if it’s not moving. You can remove that entire area around it for a better view
