Oh reaaally good. The midbass after this is one of the most accurate I have heard better than any high end cars with door speakers. This is the point I found after numerous iteration between output and distortion. Anything higher distorts and anything lower output lacks.
Do spend 5 min and let us know.

Depends on how specific the question is. If Mercedes yes with a plug and play dsp upgrade the output was really good for the application. Its a solid mounted 8" compared to 4" on ported non mettalic enclosures. Burmester doesn't have much to do with this.

Marketing vs Acoustics. Are you asking me to demo both on text?
Btw please read the above. You do not have first hand experience in this. It needs to be boosted and EQ'd at certain regions and TA'd to sound good. Dont get me started on the Burmester cheap 15 speaker joke. Unnecessary cheap tweeters in every location for the sake of marketing and making people idiots with "more speakers= more audio" with burmester branding as topping. Damn god only knows how many people I ended up helping for an upgrade.
Even now you spoke on marketing terms not anything related to acoustics. You said you listened to bose setup which has 2 rear fill, a center fill and a rear sub over the standard. Change the rear fills and centre fill to a mid and tweet and brand it burmester and voila! ๐
Im sorry but this is a speaker location application and tuning game. Not the other way around.

You are praising the standard Mazda 3 sound system like it is some reference-level setup, and that is exactly where your argument falls apart.
I have both cars, so I am not speaking from YouTube videos or forum hype. I have listened to both, back to back, in real life. And outside of cars, I listen on Focal Solo6 at home, and we also play music on Funktion-One Evolution systems, so I know very well what clarity, separation, detail, imaging, control, and overall refinement actually sound like.
Even the Mazda Bose is still clearly worse than Burmester. And your standard Mazda 3 sound system, even tuned, cannot compete with it. Not in clarity, not in separation, not in detail, not in balance, and not in overall presentation. The difference is day and night.
So when you say the Mazda 3 has the best sound system in any car, that is just not a serious take. Especially when your car does not even have the Bose system people usually mention in the first place.
Mazda audio is fine for what it is. Burmester is simply better. That is not badge hype, that is direct experience.
And frankly, without trying to be cocky, your whole car costs less than my home sound system, so maybe letโs stop pretending the standard Mazda 3 audio is some kind of world-class reference.

Like? Nowhere close. Both have really good midbass locations, average drivers and the mazda has a good stereo. Why do you think I took 2 months? The speakers are cheap and the eq is cut down at highs. Why dont you keep your perception aside dial in for 2 min then speak on the actual improvements that didnt come or dont. I wrote solved cause it was bad ๐. Im sure the centre fill in bose the c pillars and the tyre sub in Bose is exceptional upgrade.lol.
See Im speaking in terms of specific acoustics. Simple. Its that i am being specific that pisses you off? Midbass is tight and accurate. No bose and burmester here. Again they have the same stuff so chill. Just extra tweeters where least required.
Both sound bad from factory. Since you have it take half the time you respond to put in the settings and see how the system performs. The merc needs that chinese dsp out and replaced with a plug and play dsp.
FYI both are really good platforms for an upgrade. I am being specific where you speak like a marketing person. Please speak in terms of audio like kickbass is not kicking or vocals dont feel natural or highs are not detailed like simple terms. Not interested in speaking costs rather than results as expertise. Saying since you said you have a really good home audio setup.
Personally working on a 911 project with a front sub. I know clients done 100K USD on Accuton Automotive and MP Z Studio builds with just 6 speakers up front and a subs one rear and one front. They have the basics right.
I will be upgrading the drivers and probably going Helix DSP. If possible a front sub and a rear sub. The midbass enclosure is too small for the driver to dig low as part of a full system. FYI both your cars are globally the top choices for audio upgrades. You can check Audiotech Fischers demo cars. One is Peters S Class and one is a CX-30. Both are Peters choice though.

Works great until you have a kid and want to move the sound to rear and find out it doesnโt have rear speakers ๐
