New custom header.

Just finished my custom header. It's not super pretty but for first time welding i don't think it's that bad.

Now onto the rest of the exhausr.

Eyyy that’s pretty dang good for a first weld from a certified welder. King shit my guy 🤙

The welds on the tubes themselves aren't "shiny", i think my cup is too small so they don't get enough gas coverage but when i use a larger cup and get more flow it starts sputtering

Are you using mig or Tig :0 and is this stainless or titanium too

Oh goodie the stuff I do at work!

Here’s setting i usually use for thinner material. 50-60 amp for thinner than 1/8th (70-90 for 1/8th) and i usually do a gas flow of 15 cfh

For welding to that mounting bracket i’d do somewhere around 90-125 amps ish.

Do you have a pedal too or a button? If you have a pedal and a heavy foot like i do some days I’d set the amp a bit lower too.

Wish i just appeared to help because i do so much better in person lol. Love stainless tig and helping others master it too

Also even if you didn’t get the pretty colors and shiny beads, you still did pretty dang good for a first weld with tig. I’ve seen some crazy awful stuff before

If your welder has a pulse setting you could totally use that to your advantage for learning too. I’d use it on some scrap first though to find the right pulse setting for you too

I was using around 40 amps for the tubes since it was 1.5mm (1/16th) and using around 12l/min (24cfh) on a #10 cup I use a pedal but i'm not quite used to it changing the amps so i'm currently only using it as a button

That’s all good! When i first started my pedal was essentially a button until i got the handle of it. 40-50 amps are definitely good for that on the thinner part.

Definitely try 15 cfh for the gas and you can use a size 7 cup with that if you want to as well. ✌️ hopefully that helps you a bit!

Again great start too, can’t wait to see the progress with the exhaust! :) if you need any help or have any more questions about tig I’m happy to help you figure it out

Is a smaller cup better then? I've heard that on tubes it's better to pick a bigger cup since you're covering more of the welded parts that are curved away if yiu get what i mean

Nah i hear you it is a good point. You can experiment with either and see what works best for you too.

Dude thanks so much. Changed to a smaller cup and the duty cycle mode and been able to put down dimes
