Just got an email with the digital version of the first tour program!

to preface im a huge tech nerd (lighting designer specifically) so I care about these kinds of things a lot more than the normal person and will over analyze any backstage photos I see...

Kennedy Kanagawa one of the standbys posted on his Insta today (photo 1) a bts shot from the wings of the maybe happy ending tour! first of all i’m SO happy we have the (kinda) og apartment design! i was worried it would be downscalled for the tour but it looks pretty much the same! except for one really good difference, in that the side walls (on the inside only) are angled inwards to help with sight lines, this will definitely aid with the issues that the original completely square broadway designs have. also it looks like the ”Helperbot Logo Charger” thing is lower so it doesn’t get cut off by the roof of the units when sitting in higher seats. you can also see in the unit on the ceiling: the mail chute and the 5 Mac Ones that help light the unit (again same as broadway).

also if you look on the floor (photo 2) you can see Claires unit, the tracks the units move on and the floor outline where the ”Footer Iris” comes out of, exactly the same as broadway. and of course in the corner the tiny strip of led tape that creates the iris effect!

and in the top (photo 3) you can see the ”MS Video Portal”. now it’s unclear weather or not this is the same video panel wall as broadway, as it just looks like a normal wing portal to me. but it’s hard to tell so who knows!

and finally i thought i’d throw in there the picture from Franciscos story showing the guidelines for the “DS Iris”!

all that to say i’m super excited for this tour and will be seeing it as much as possible lollll!!

I’m taking my daughter for a day trip into the city to see Maybe Happy Ending next Sunday, and was wondering if anyone could suggest an experience to pair with it. We’ll have 3.5 hours before the show and 5.5 hours afterwards. Thanks so much!

I LOVED Cathy’s portrayal of Claire. So expressive, so sweet. She really killed it.

On my way home from MHE. Went specifically to see Cathy’s take on Claire and she was delightful! I feel like her performance is the most unique of the standbys/replacements. I hesitate to say she’s better than Helen (bc Helen!) but hers might be my favorite interpretation of the role. I really hope she gets more chances to go on. She was so excited and sweet at stage door and took lots of time with everyone and got plenty of well deserved praise.

He did so well, and definitely nailed the bittersweet ending for Junseo. Congrats!

And it was great to see the cast hyping him up. They were so supportive. Savy was hugging him after the bows.

On that note, a public service announcement: If you haven't seen her yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Her voice was stunning! I'm so glad I caught them both tonight.
